This was a most unexpected surprise, but very pleasant that XM went into the future by 3 days. Is this a first for them?

Cue sheet indicates that Deeper & Deeper by Freda Payne was at #38 & #37--actually #37 was Stand By Your Man by Candi Staton; both songs were dropping down the chart.

1970 AGAIN? Just two weeks after the last show from that year and for the third time in six weeks? At least one of those had to have been scheduled/played by mistake.

While I look at the airing of ANY 1970 show with pleasure ('turbo Casey'!), I can see your point that three in six weeks is a bit of overkill. Getting set to enjoy it here in a few minutes. And hoping that the ''60s Satellite Survey' later will be from the late '60s, maybe just a couple of years earlier. Dave recently did '69, so not expecting that year, but '67 or '68 would be great.

This is what i was saying in an earlier post, the new PD at the channel LOVES the early 70's. Even the daily playlist has been flooded with early 70's tracks. It's gotten a bit better now, but earlier this year it was tons of 1970-1973 material. I don't believe there was any mistake, it was all intentional.

Perusing the chart for this show on UMD--1970 was really a continuation of the '60s in terms of chart movements. On this week's 40 both #s 12 and 11 made big jumps to those positions, only to both peak right at those two spots. The Who jumped from 24 to 12 with "See Me, Feel Me",while Elvis seemed to be certain to score his third top 10 single of 1970 with "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", which would have been the first time he did that since 1962 ('63, if you count "Return To Sender" still in the top 10 the first week of that year). But no, it stopped right there at 11.

Nov. 25-26, 2023: Now let’s go back to this week in 1970 -Danny Hutton- November 28, 1970 The deejay that followed AT40 on XM yesterday afternoon (Jonathan in Colorado) erroneously acknowledged the countdown was from 1974. Somebody get their wires crossed?

Somebody get their wires crossed? Do you think they have inside information and the countdown is for this coming weekend? I would really love that!

Maybe they really intended to play 1974 this weekend and 1970 was in fact a mistake. (It's almost inexplicable that countdowns from any one year of any decade would be played three out of six weeks without some special factor at play, which isn't evident here.) But they haven't done a regularly scheduled 1974 show in a while (over three months, longer than any other year), so maybe it is up next?

I sure hope so. "If I Can Help" please let me know who to whom I can request. This would be a great show, and it would be the "Whatever Gets Me Through The Night." They can play all three hours and Do It Til I'm Satisfied." Last one I promise--"Let's Straighten It Out" since it hasn't played in over three months!
Seriously though, it would be 11-30-74, just a couple of days from the actual date of 12-2-23. I don't think they would move to 12-7-74.

Casey answered a question about the record relating to the album chart: 294 number ones since the chart started in 1945, with the most being by the Beatles (15 or 5% of all no. 1s). 14 of them happened during a short six years (1964-1970) plus one compilation (The Blue Album 67-70) hitting #1 in 1973.
Updating the stats to now in late Nov. 2023…………the champ is still the fab four but now their no. 1 albums have grown to 19. BTW: Compilations Red (62-66) and Blue album re-entered the Billboard 200 a couple of weeks ago in billboard 200 but the new versions both have further tracks (additional twelve for the Red and nine for the Blue); plus another separately charted boxed set 1962-1970.
