This weekend's show is announced as 1970--just three weeks after the last 1970 show? Strange given that this week in 1970 aired last year. Nov. 12-13, 2022: Now let’s go back to this week in 1970 - Danny Hutton - November 7, 1970 October 31, 1970 (2022) and November 14, 1970 (2023) are Wheel of Casey shows.

This weekend's show is announced as 1970--just three weeks after the last 1970 show? Not so strange, the programming on 70’s on 7 has been leaning quite heavily on the early part of the decade for the past year or so. Not just on the AT40 shows, across the board. 1970-1975 seems to be their main focus these days. When you look at the “random” Wheel of Casey shows you’ll see that they tend to lean towards the early shows. The regular weekly shows will dip into the latter part of the decade for a week or two, then jump back to first part for 3-4 weeks. They used to ping pong back and forth fairly evenly.

The movie That Lovin’ Man Jesus that was referenced in the 11/6/71 show wasn’t released theatrically until late 1973. And then, it was retitled as Soul Hustler. Exactly two years later, during the 11/24/73 show, Casey promoted his appearance in the movie and thanked those who attended the film’s grand opening in Houston.
What’s interesting, Casey never mentioned his appearance in The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant, which starred Bruce Dern and Pat Priest, and was in its first run in theatres earlier in 1971.

I also said that they tend to stick to the first part of the decade for a few weeks before jumping to the latter half. It’s an even split, but they don’t jump back and forth like they used to.

Nov. 11-12, 2023: Now let’s go back to this week in 1970 - No intro - October 31, 1970 Seems like the show should've been November 7, 1970. In addition, no extras/oldies are being played which means the show could be over in just a little more then two hours.

My guess is whoever picked the show went with the fact the show that original aired on October 31, 1970 was using the November 7, 1970 chart. So they figured this was the correct week. It may be how it’s logged into the Prophet System that SXM uses. But yeah, the 11/7 or even the 11/14 show would have made much more sense. Those early shows with the week shifts confuse many people.

They did play the last extra, Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song", which was the only 70s song among the extras. 10/31/70 (chart date) should have aired last week, though it's possible someone confused the chart and air dates. Though usually both Premiere and SXM use the Billboard chart date for these 1970-71 shows where they don't match. Nonetheless, we just got a 1970 countdown three weeks ago (the 10/17/70 chart aired on October 21-22), so anything else from that year really should have waited at least a few more weeks.

Looks like November 19, 1977 is on tap for this weekend. I’d prefer they waited a little longer on 1977 since we got that year from Premiere last week, but considering I did a “chart critique” of that show and called 14 songs “faves”, I’m not complaining.

Looks like November 19, 1977 is on tap for this weekend. Five songs on this one that we didn't hear last weekend on Premiere. Four of them relatively 'lost', especially High Inergy's sole hit and the Rollers' final one. One totally 'fried' early '78 #1 is the other debut. And, of course, our lives continue to be lit up.

Our lives would be lit up until its last week on the Top 40, 2-4-78, so just think 2 1/2 months from now. Our love will be deepened until 4-1-78!
