Looks like May 24, 1975 is on tap for this weekend.

This show opened with a notable factual error: Casey led into #40, Ray Stevens’ version of “Misty”, by saying that Ray had two #1’s, “The Streak” and “many years before that, ‘Ahab the Arab’”—which did not hit #1, but in 1970 “Everything Is Beautiful” did.
Casey also led into John Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” by listing whom the competitors in the Miss Teen USA pageant thought were the “greatest men in the world today”. Denver ranked third in that vote, but the winner was then-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger—who is still alive and well at 100, a milestone he attained this weekend as this show was replayed.

Wheel of Casey this week: August 8, 1970. YES! Show #5, which aired on the weekend of August 1/2. A 'groovy situation', indeed! Tina (with Ike) at #38 covering Sly. Too bad we almost certainly won't get to hear the original Increase Records 'Cruisin' LP series ads.

Too bad we almost certainly won't get to hear the original Increase Records 'Cruisin' LP series ads. No, but it appears that they left all the original extras (from the 1960s) in, which they don't always do for these Thursday night bonus shows; last week's 1979 countdown had some pre-1970 songs cut out. As for this weekend's AT40, that's unclear. Their usual Thursday night announcement after the show said 1975, but that can't be right as we got that year last weekend.

The backup singers “The Ikettes” that’s been kinda disruptive even to Ike & Tina’s career (thanks to recent interest to Tina due to her death) were also on the record.
Casey announced #36 as “Do You See My Love Growing for You” rather than the correct “Do You See My Love for You Growing”. But at least he didn’t read the wrong title of #33 “Silver Band” as printed on the Hot 100 page by Mark Lindsay. It’s of course “Silver Bird”. His intro and I think outro to Guess Who at #33 was messed up, probably by SiriusXM.
AND finally at the end, there was no AND. “Keep Your Feet on the Ground”; “Keep Reaching for the Stars”.

We know about abusiveness of Ike for a long time. But both Ike & Tina complained about their tardiness, no show at rehearsals and sloppy looks. Although I have to say the Ikettes went through so much quittings, firings and personnel changes, it's hard to keep track of the backup relations even in a single year.

Hearing the Lida Ronstadt/Mick Jagger story on today's show reminds me of seeing the Stones live in Tucson the following month. Jagger announced that 'someone's here to help us sing this one' right before hometown girl Ronstadt came out on stage to join him and the band on "Tumbling Dice".

Wheel of Casey this week: April 23, 1977. I'll listen to a June show in April, but not an April show in June. OCD, I guess...
