Good to hear 1974, and that year hasn't been played since the 3-9-74 episode, so all the songs featured today would not have charted back then.

Has Premiere aired 11/10/79? Once, in 2013. Though most Premiere stations played only hours 2-4, since the first hour was optional, and Sirius XM of course is airing the complete version. I think I'd rather lose Hour 1 than get the edited mess that is the SXM version.

Ummm, would you rather them drop Casey in favor of their weekly homemade error filled circus like we hear on the 80s...

This weekend on '60s on 6 Dave Hoeffel is doing the top 40 songs by groups or duos from the first half of 1970. He explains at the start how AT40 started on July 4 weekend and that these are the '70 hits that Casey never counted down. About a month ago he did a similar countdown of the top 40 solo his from the same January through June period. Great 6th grade memories here!

Not sure if there will be a regular show next weekend with SXMs homemade top 700 of the 70s.

It's done by year it looks like.

WPNC featured the first countdown Tuesday morning at 6 am. Great show for sure. Just think Laura, that was 20 years before you were born!

Wow, what are the odds the Wheel would land on the show everybody most wanted to hear this weekend?

I'm thinking Sirius/XM already planned to air the first show.

If you think about it, there are 13 weeks in the year for each of the four seasons. If we start with the Billboard top 40 from the first week of June, and then add the 4 new songs per week (on average) for the next 12 weeks, that is a total of 88 songs for them to choose from to make their top 70 of the summer lists.
But, looking at the top 40 from the first week of June, 1973 (for example) there were songs like "Cisco Kid" that had been top 10 hits back in April. And looking at the top 40 from the last week of summer, at the end of August, there were songs like "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," which hadn't even made the top 20 yet. Those tunes were not hits from the summer of 1973!
So, out of a pool of maybe 80 songs, they are playing 70 of them. If you've always been a fan of the songs Casey played at #s 40 - 31, full of lost classics or songs that you felt should have been bigger hits, then this is a chance to hear many that you may not have heard for years! If only their permanent playlist could be like this...
