Will that be the countdown from 3/31/79? Should be, since 4/7/79 was guest hosted. Interestingly, SXM's 70s and 80s channels pair 1979 and 1980 this weekend.

Wow so both Premiere and SXM will be playing 1972 this weekend -- guessing SXM will go with 4/8/72.

SXM usually reaches for the earlier day compared to the weekend airdate, so 4/8/72 is likely.
Still, there are eight other years to choose from (really five or six, so as not to repeat ones they just played.) Sirius XM may not be aware of Premiere's schedule, but at the same time they aired a 1972 show in early March, just over a month ago, so it's not in a drought. 1973, 75, 76, and 78 haven't been played on weekends since before they last did 1972.

Apr. 10-11, 2021: Now let’s go back to this week in 1972 - Ann Wilson of Heart, April 8, 1972 On this week's SiriusXM show, Casey responded to a listener question about the most controversial Top 40 hits ever. (Casey mentioned seven songs that he and his staff decided upon as most controversial.) Coincidentally, that week's countdown had two other songs that were just as problematic: Paul McCartney's "Give Ireland Back To The Irish" (banned by the BBC because of the then-current conflict in N. Ireland), and "Jungle Fever" by The Chakachas (We ALL know why THAT song raised eyebrows!)

How about that? SXM and Premiere match years two weeks in a row. Wonder if that's ever happened before? Just like last week, I'll guess that SXM goes with the earlier week and plays 4/12/75.

Are they back to announcing the year ahead of time? Or is it “insider info”?

Are they back to announcing the year ahead of time? Or is it “insider info”? There was an announcement--not by one of the DJ's, but anonymously--after last night's Casey replay. Whether this will consistently continue I don't know. And between this and their 1985 show on the next channel--what is this? Copy Premiere Week?

Whether this will consistently continue I don't know. And between this and their 1985 show on the next channel--what is this? Copy Premiere Week? I know they just got a new voiceover guy for the channel. One morning Matt Allen mentioned the guy and said it’s funny because the guy wasn’t even alive in the 70’s. So maybe they are giving the new guy new things to announce.
