I think most of us recognize that the Top 50 of the 1970's countdown from AT40 was one of their most inaccurate charts. While it was fun to hear the songs spanning the entire decade, I try to not get to hung up on where the songs ranked. I feel like a chart that reflected the actual best selling singles (or most played)would have been the most accurate but I realize to research such a chart would have been more time consuming and that AT40 was up against a tight deadline to produce the show--so I try to just enjoy the music and the memories.

Good to see that they left in a piece of Dion's Runaround Sue before the remake by Leif Garrett played.

Satellite radio (SiriusXM) playing January 15, 1972. Wow--the whole show ran completely unedited (Incredible).

According to their Facebook page...
"SiriusXM 70s on 7 adds a new time slot for American Top 40-The Seventies, starting this weekend! (Jan 26th) It’s The Early-bird Special! In addition to the usual times including Saturday at Noon, hear Casey count them down starting Saturday at 6am ET (3am PT)."

Hey, maybe SXM is turning over a new leaf and offering more Casey shows in a completely unedited form! One can hope, right?

After last week's no edit job on AT40, SiriusXM is back to it's usual hatchet job (enjoy the parts of the show that they let you hear).

After last week's no edit job on AT40, SiriusXM is back to it's usual hatchet job (enjoy the parts of the show that they let you hear). The guess is that they probably just re-air the same version of many of these shows as they did previously...so those hatchet job edits will live on indefinitely.

This week January 30, 1971
The Percy Faith extra was left in, but the Beatles and Monkees extras were cut. Very odd.

This week is February 22, 1975 Listening now. Sounding good, of course. And I notice that SXM is leaving in all the original bumpers. Good for them.
