Wow!-That is rather shocking-Interesting that Billboard bought them a few years ago as both publications were considered rivals back in the day.

I'm totally shocked if you ask me, I heard about it when I went to their website to check this week's airplay charts.
I hope Billboard's website will post the total number of spins when they post the radio airplay charts.

Today's issue of Tom Taylor on Radio-Info has relatively precise story on this sad incident: radio-info.com/newsletter/html/tri-06042009.htmlI miss the Radio & Records especially when it was a Radio Industry's Newspaper (but not a colorful magazine) including huge collection of radio stations' playlists.

As a small child growing up in the early 70s, I fell in love with the Casey Kasem hosted American Top 40. I listened straight through the 3 (later 4) hour show-expecially when he would share info on what was topping the other charts-all drawn from Billboard magazine. When the Hot 100 changed reporting methodologies, R & R's CHR chart seemed to become the logical evolution of what I had once enjoyed. As a regular BB reader in the late 70s through the 80s, their radio section gave R &R a good run for the money. Once BB decided to deprioritize radio around 1993 with the advent of Airplay Monitor magazine, I made the move over to R & R. I actually let my subscription lapse this past winter after a 13 year subscription. Fast forward to 2009 with Mediabase, All Access, the Pulse Board and for my nostalgia fix, our beloved Fun and Games Site (thanks to Scott Lakefield for this precious gift!!!), I just found too much good stuff on-line to occupy my time, then my weekly trade publication read. I am honest with myself-one of the bullets that brought down this beautiful trade paper came from my gun.
