Well, we have heard about TV shows and movies having spinoff and sequels, well it's interesting that a radio show would have one spinoff, let alone several of them, and that radio show, of course is American Top 40. It is remarkable that AT40 has had several spinoffs over its history, and it is one of the most incredible aspects of this long running and successful franchise. So here is a rundown of all of the AT40 spinoffs:
American Country Countdown 1973-Present America's Top 10 1980-1992 American Top 20 Hot AC 1998-Present American Top 20 AC 1998-2004 American Top 40 Flashback 2001-2002 American Top 10 2004-Present American Top 40 Hot AC 2004-Present
Wow, that is a lot of spinoffs, especially from a radio show, but just any radio show, a radio show that has become the biggest franchise in radio history. I think Star Trek better watch out, because AT40 is clicking on its heels for the most spinoffs.

In addition to this list, there were some INDIRECT spinoffs: *a former AT40 staffer (unfortunately the name escapes me) was involved with the Jazz Album Countdown (Orcas Productions, Ltd.) in the late 70s; the design of the program's record labels, cue sheets and show numbers -- not to mention the countdown format -- have an unquestionable likeness to AT40; perhaps someone can provide more information
also, *AT40 guest host Humble Harve (July 6, 1974) created his own program (National Album Countdown) in 1976; it lasted until at least 1982 *AT40 guest host Dick Clark (March 25, 1972) started the National Music Survey in 1981 *AT40 guest host Mark Elliott worked with Drake Chenault on the Weekly Top 30 starting in 1979

Change the dates on Amercan Country Countdown, it died thb last week of 2005. Country Top 40 w/Bob Kingsley keeps the tradition going and you didnt mention it.

Can we consider : Casey's Top 40,Casey's Countdown,Casey's Top 20,and Casey's Biggest Hits? How about America's Top Hits?

Can we consider : Casey's Top 40,Casey's Countdown,Casey's Top 20,and Casey's Biggest Hits? How about America's Top Hits? A SPINOFF should be one coming out of the very same house than the original, eventually doing by the same producers or at least parts of the staff. Casey's Top 40 / Countdown / Hot 20 doesn't qualify as a spinoff. Infact it made some inventions by it's own, like splitting off to different radio formats. Something AT40 and ABC never wanted to do ... and we all know where they landed in 1994. But "America's Top Hits" truly qualifys as a "Spinoff" programme, that's right !

Around 2008, Ryan Seacrest had something called "The Entertainment Edge" that aired in Europe and included the Top 20 songs on AT40.
Then a couple years ago, they started "Canadian AT40."

What about the 1984-1985 syndicated TV show "America's Choice" hosted by Casey? Does it count as an AT40 spinoff?
