Edits were common place in the original run, even during CT40 in the 90s. Its all about creating more time for the national commercial spots. The year end shows were FULL of edits in order squeeze 50 songs into 4 hours w/ commercials. Now 1 thing I noticed was when AT40 resurfaced w/ AM FM, the edits were few an far between.

At least all AT40 affiliates played all the songs during Casey and Shadoe's year end shows, even in truncated form. Things got even worse under Ryan Seacrest, with several of the year's top 100 offered as "optional extras" that stations can edit out completely, and several of the remaining songs are cut to 90 seconds or less.

I remember that alot of times Breaking Us In Two by Joe Jackson was edited. Seemed like every week!
