I don't work for Premiere or any radio station. However, if the Xmas shows follow last years pattern, it probably go like this for 2008.....
Nov 15-16 - Stations can air first run regular AT10 or Xmas rerun AT10.
Nov 22-23 - Stations can air first run regular AT10 or Xmas rerun AT10.
Nov 29-30 - Xmas rerun AT10 only.
Dec 6- 7 - Xmas rerun AT10 only.
Dec 13-14 - Xmas Top 60 rerun (numbers 60 to 31)
Dec 20-21 - Xmas Top 60 rerun (numbers 30 to 1)
Dec 27-28 - Top 30 Songs of 2008.
Of course, I'm only assuming. If someone could verify this, it would be helpful.

Thanks for responding to my post-I sent an e-mail to Jason, who's the program director at WQMA,the AT 10 affiliate in Marks,MS,to find out if he received a memo from Premiere concerning the holiday shows-My e-mail was returned as undeliverable-I'm pretty sure what you wrote is accurate.

Hi,
Jason checking in. Did you write jason@q1520radio.com?? No known problems on my end with email.
There is only one week of overlap this year where there will be a Christmas show and a regular show. It's November 22/23. WQMA will air the regular chart show. I'm not sure when we'll air the Christmas show we don't play but we will eventually air it too. Probably it will air sometime around the Christmas holiday like Christmas Eve or Christmas Day sometime. We've already got some great longform Christmas programming contracted this year like a 12 hour special titled "Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas In America".
Back to AT10, Nov 29/30 and Dec 6/7 will be Christmas songs.
Dec 13/14 will be the top 60 Christmas Part 1
Dec 20/21 will be the top 60 Christmas Part 2
Dec 27/28 will be the top 30 AC songs of 2008
Hope this helps.

Is the Top 60 Christmas songs countdown the same one every year? And does anyone know what criteria is used to compile it?

I have a feeling the "Top 60 Christmas Countdown" was recorded a few years ago-I'm not sure how the rankings were compiled.

I have a feeling the "Top 60 Christmas Countdown" was recorded a few years ago-I'm not sure how the rankings were compiled. Old Radio Shows lists a Casey-hosted "Top 60 Christmas Countdown" that was broadcast in December 2005 (and possibly earlier?), as well as an "All Time Christmas Countdown" from 2001.

Its the same Top60 show recorded back in 2005. The one from 2001 hasnt been replayed since. And I'm only guessing it was replayed in '02 - '04.

The "Top 30 Christmas Songs Countdown" was first aired in 2001.
In 2002, that same show was rerun again in 2002. In fact, some stations that flipped to all Xmas music, would replay the same show each weekend for about 4 weeks.
In 2003, "Top 30 Christmas Songs Countdown" had about roughly 3 or 4 songs changed, but it the rest was the same from the 2001 show. Once again, the all Xmas stations ran the same show for 4 weeks in a row.
In 2004, the Christmas show had to change. The "Top 30 Christmas Songs Countdown" had American Top 20 mentions throughout the show. Since American Top 20 AC changed to American Top 10, the Christmas show had to be redone. Thus, it became a top 60 Christmas countdown airing over two weeks, with the American Top 10 id.
In 2005, all Caseys shows had optimal extras added. With the new format clock, the Christmas show had to be reedited to fit the optimal extras. The top 60 remains the same, but some extrra were dropped and new ones were added.
The top 60 Xmas countdown on AT10 in 2006, 2007, and 2008 is just the same rerun for the show set from 2005.

Once again, the all Xmas stations ran the same show for 4 weeks in a row. I remember hearing about that. HAC and AC stations that aired Casey's shows but flipped to all Christmas would play that same show every week for a month, and I think some were airing it for close to 2. As much as I think the all Christmas music format on radio stations is stupid, it's popular with enough people that it returns each year and at least AT10 made Christmas themed shows to go along with the format and it wasn't just the same show over and over.

Does anyone have the first segment of the second half of the Top 60 Christmas Special (from the start, #30, 29 and the extra, "Believe" by Josh groban?) Yep, my computer crapped out again... UPDATE: Add the 6th hour to that as well. I just listened to the playback, and for the entire last hour, Sleigh Ride over and over and over again! ARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

WTDR Sunny 104.3 in Anniston and Oxford, Alabama switched from airing the AT40: The 80's shows to Casey's AT10 Christmas programming, so it seems that they're gonna broadcast a re-run of the AT10 Christmas Top 60 over the holidays.
