Here's my critique of the countdown from 10/30/82 which Premiere first aired in 2007:
#40-" I Get Excited"-Pointer Sisters-During its initial chart run,it peaked at #30-Two years later,it was re-released & peaked at #9-A bonafide classic.
#39-"The Look Of Love"-ABC-The breakthrough smash for this band from Sheffield,England which featured Martin Fry on lead vocals-Great song.
#38-"Young Love"-Air Supply-Great follow up to "Even The Nights Are Better".
#37-"I Need You"-Paul Carrack-The first top forty hit for this native of Sheffield,England-Carrack first reached the pop chart in 1975 when he sang lead on "How Long" by Ace-Six years later,he was the lead vocalist on "Tempted" which was a minor hit for Squeeze-"I Need You" is a great song that should've been a much bigger hit-FYI:Carrack went on to become the lead singer of Mike & The Mechanics.
#36-"I.G.Y. (What A Beautiful World)"-Donald F**an-The only top forty hit for this founding member of Steely Dan-Great song that radio has chosen to ignore.
#35-"Rock This Town"-Stray Cats-The breakthrough smash for this group from Massapequa,NY who specialized in the music of the 1950's-A bonafide classic.
#34-"Get Closer"-Linda Ronstadt-One of her lesser known hits-Great song-FYI:The song's author,Jon Carroll,previously reached the top forty as a member of The Starland Vocal Band who are best known for their 1976 hit "Afternoon Delight".
#33-"Love Me Tomorrow"-Chicago-Great follow up to their #1 smash "Hard To Say I'm Sorry".

#31-"It's Raining Again"-Supertramp-The initial release from the album "Famous Last Words"-Great song.
#30-"Mickey"-Toni Basil-The only top forty hit for this singer & choreographer from Philadelphia,PA-A bonafide classic.
#29-"Pressure"-Billy Joel-The initial release from his album "The Nylon Curtain"-Great song-FYI:One of the lines in the song goes:"All my life is Channel 13,'Sesame Street',what does it mean?"-For those board posters who aren't from the New York metropolitan area,WNET aka:Channel 13 is the local PBS affiliate.

#27-"Steppin Out"-Joe Jackson-His biggest hit overall & a timeless classic.
#26-"Sweet Time"-REO Speedwagon-One of their lesser known hits-Great song.
#25-"Southern Cross"-Crosby,Stills & Nash-Their final top forty hit & another timeless classic.
#24-"Nobody"-Sylvia-The only top forty hit for this native of Kokomo,IN whose full name is Sylvia Hutton-Great song that was a hit on both the pop & country chart.
#23-"American Heartbeat"-Survivor-Great follow up to "Eye Of The Tiger".
#22-"You Don't Want Me Anymore"-Steel Breeze-The first of two top forty hits for this band from Sacramento,CA who took their unusual name from a phrase in a Pink Floyd song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"-"You Don't Want Me Anymore" is a great tune.

#18-"Muscles"-Diana Ross-Great song that was written by Michael Jackson.
#17-"Don't Fight It"-Kenny Loggins & Steve Perry-Great one-off duet.
#16-"The One You Love"-Glenn Frey-Fantastic song.
#15-"Hold On"-Santana-Another fantastic song.
#14-"Truly"-Lionel Richie-The first top forty solo hit for the former lead singer of The Commodores-A timeless classic that was headed for #1.
#13-"Gloria"-Laura Branigan-The first & biggest hit for this native of Brewster,NY (1957-2004)-Another bonafide classic.
