Here's another big change from that era Brett, I worked at a small town AM station from 1978-1980 and moved onto a 100,00 watt FM in '80. In those days, and previous to '78, the station could do a remote at the Putt Putt and have a huge crowd show up. Good gosh a 4th of July bikini contest with the AM jocks playing Putt Putt against the FM jocks could bring the masses in. Only years later, when it seemed the FM's were destined for metropolitan areas, and AM was no longer "cool" to listen to, they couldn't get a crowd together for much of anything. I came in on the tail end of the "good ol days" of radio I suppose. I live in the past too much I know. I had a minister tell me once that I "couldn't live in the past...", with as much respect as I could muster, I said, "Hide in the bushes and watch me...", and promptly drove off in my '79 Sedan De Ville...

As I trade couple of shows a month (my list: at40.nenad.net ), I mostly listen to my current trades once a week, as I travel once a week to Stockholm (I live in Gothenburg), which takes about 3 hours or so (depending on our local train co ), so I either have it on CD-R and listen on my comp or just download it to my mp3 player . The choice depends really on the mood I am in at the moment (recently I spent few weeks just listening to 70's shows)... but favorite era is (or are) AT40 mid 80's and CT40 mid 90's...

I will usually play an old AT40 or CT40 year end countdown, when I know I'll be traveling in the car that takes an over an 8 hour drive, when I visiting my family. It speeds up the trip for me. Its also nice that when you play a year end show, there will be no repeat songs for 8 hours.
