That show was absolutely awful. The concept was a nice change from the "all request" garbage but essentially that's all it still was....garbage. Songs played for no rhyme or reason in the spots they were in. As Scott already mentioned, no numbers on nearly everything in the first half so then you are left with no real choice but to go by the Rick Dees website....part 1 ended at 52. Part 2 STARTS at 44 and no mention of anything in between!!! Not to mention if you listen, you can hear where parts of other shows were pieced in with this one as the sound quality on Dees's voice changes...sometimes dramatically. This thing was an absolute embarrassment from start to the attrocity at #1 finish!

So what, we're just supposed to guess songs #51 through #45? That's not cool! Unless it's a "Hidden Weekly Top 40 Challenge". I heard that some of the songs that were #1 during the decade were absent from the chart. They're probably in that "phantom zone".

I heard not one number on the first half of the show, and if my memory serves correctly (have to check at home), the cue sheets said that part one started with #88, not #100. It was the WEBSITE that said #100-52. I don't believe that a single numbered position is ever given on part one.
I've finally gotten to part two of this special yesterday afternoon and this morning. It's really weird...in part two, particularly from the mid-20s on, Dees suddenly shows up, and actually gives you a numbered position on virtually every song.
But, as said earlier, a LOT of this show is clearly cobbled together from old Dees shows. Had to love the piece going into #15, "Where is The Love" by Black Eyed Peas. Dees refers to "this week's number one song." Oops.

He didn't mention numbers until getting to the top 40, and I do recall a lot of the segments were recycled (I know I heard the No Doubt "Underneath It All" segment back when that song was at #1.)

Looks like a dumb countdown. Even though I like some of the songs, they left out one of the songs I really liked, "Bye Bye Bye!"
Wasn't that number one for a very long time in 2000?

Yes, it was #1 for 8 weeks on Dees (10 weeks on R&R, but Rick kicked them out early to make Santana's "Maria Maria" a #1). I'm baffled as to why it isn't on there.

Like I have been saying, it would not surprise me if they can't find them.

Why so many shows from 1989? It seems they have been doing them one after the other!

In all fairness, they were probably supposed to play something else last week and the XM people screwed up and played the same show from two weeks ago. There should have been a break between 89 airings.

Well I wouldn't think they will do another '89 show NEXT week, unless they choose the 7/22 show. Because the 7/29/89 show had "Cher" counting down the hits, instead of Rick. Allthough I guess its possible that they would run a guest hosted show.

I think Dees still made "appearances" on many of his guest hosted shows, so it's possible they will air them.

And usually Rick does appear when he has a guest host, especially when it's a celebrity guest host. He didn't usually appear when another DJ guest-hosted (aside from Ellen K).
