This afternoon at about 12:45pm, the "Jack" format left New York City radio and the flip to a revived Oldies (OK, well it's now called "Classic Hits") format returned to WCBS-FM. For those interested in hearing the flip, here's a link: www.formatchange.com/1011-wcbs-fm-returns/

I dont think its possible. Casey's show, AT10, is already carried in the NYC market by a different station. And as we discussed in another thread, it appears that "Casey" can only be heard on one station per market, so ONLY the station that has AT10 can carry the 70s/80s show.

If I'm not mistaken, it's entirely possible for Casey to be heard in any market with as many as four different shows. Thus, it's possible for his AT20 Hot AC show to make it onto the NYC airwaves as well as his 70's and 80's shows. When WCBS-FM played "Do It Again" by the Beach Boys at about 1:01 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007, it meant the station righted a 25-month wrong. More importantly, perhaps, though, was how a generation of people for 25 months had a one-word response to WCBS-FM's jack format. That one word was "no." A SIGNIFICANT number of people swore they'd never listen to WCBS-FM with its jack format. That's no knock at the Jack format. It's a viable format that can succeed...but it wasn't meant to succeed in the Big Apple. Why? Because the station tried to shove down the throats of listeners the jack format...at the expense of a format that had been a proven winner for 33 years. The listeners in the #1 radio USA market wanted Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, Jim Croce, Elton John and the Eagles. Now, they've GOT it! There's no telling how much longer the oldies/classic hits format can succeed. It may very well blend in with the AC format someday, giving us a huge viable format. I DO know this: What transpired at 1:01 p.m. on July 12, 2007 in New York City respresents an OVERWHELMING VICTORY...
For a generation of people....
And a format.
