Born Christmas Eve 1918, Dave Bartholomew passed away June 23, 2019 of heart failure at 100. He is survived by his wife, 8 children and 25 grandchildren. He is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. Dave has some success a a bandleader in the late 40s and early 50s, but he made his mark as A&R man for Imperial Records beginning in the late 40s. He collaborated with Fats Doming for a period of 14 years, and together they charted over 100 entries. Dave co-wrote and produced all of Fats Domino's classics; "I'm Walkin", "Ain't That A Shame", "Blueberry Hill", "Walkin' To New Orleans" are a few examples. He also wrote "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" (Lloyd Price, Buckinghams) and "I Hear You Knocking" (Smiley Lewis, Dave Edmunds). Elvis had Top 40 success with Dave's "One Night" and "Witchcraft". Dave originally wrote & recorded Chuck Berry's only #1 hit "My Ding-A-Ling". We remember Dave Bartholomew with Fats Domino's highest charting pop hit. It reached #3 in 1956 and topped the R&B charts.
