Probably out of necessity, Casey was mostly non-committal regarding his opinions of the artists on the show. In any outside interviews, did he ever express surprise that someone did or didn't become a big star?

I think he mentioned at times on AT10 that he liked Faith Hill.

From the 70's shows I get the feeling Casey was most personally enthusiastic about r&b artists like James Brown, the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight and the Pips, and soft rockers like Bread and the Carpenters. And of course it was evident he respected the accomplishments of Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
I don't know if he expressed other opinions outside the show.
