Once again another big star has left us: Doris Day
On 5/11/1959, almost to the day exactly 60 years ago, she entered (and peaked) at #100 for one week with "Love Me In The Daytime":
And probably one of her best known songs went to #2 on 8/25/1956 - "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)":
R.I.P. Doris

Doris Day was truly a talented singer-The bulk of her hits date back to the pre-rock era-One of my all-time favorites from Doris was "Sentimental Journey" which was # 1 as World War II was winding down in 1945.

On January 13, 1973, "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul was in its second week at #3, after having spent 3 weeks at #1. Casey introduces the song by pointing out that a piece of Doris Day's 1954 hit "Secret Love" is played during the intro to the Billy Paul hit. Very clever! You can hear it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7j2HMoLJV0A lovey tribute to a lovely lady!

Also known for her animal welfare activism much like Betty White who is also 97! Doris Day is the 2nd name to be dropped in this #1 hit song from 1989 May she rest in peace!

I think of this every January -- heard it when first broadcast and it has stuck with me ever since. Not sure when the last time was that Premiere aired that show.
