Dave Roberts sat in for Casey on four occasions between 1980 and 1986. Only Charlie Van Dyke and Mark Elliott were more often presented as guest hosts during the classic 1970-1988 era.
And as noted in Rob's book, Dave was a station board engineer for AT40's first show, when the countdown aired on KPOI in Honolulu.

Don't expect to hear any of his guest-hosted shows to be offered as a tribute, as he is not a noted figure like Dick Clark and Gary Owens were.
Sad loss for American Top 40.
I know Charlie Van Dyke guest-hosted at least 30 shows during the 1980s, but how many did Mark Elliott guest host? I don't recall hearing tell of him sub-hosting more than four episodes, otherwise it would have to be during 1980 to 1982.
Three of the original airdates for Roberts' guest hosted shows were June 21, 1980, May 2, 1981 and April 12, 1986. What was the other?
Regardless, if I were to choose any of his guest hosted shows as a tribute, I would rather his April 12, 1986 show.

Mark Elliott guest hosted seven episodes, the first being 10/8/77 and the last 10/2/82. He was also regular guest host for Casey's Top 40 from 1989 to early (Feb/Mar?) 1993. And 11/21/81 was the fourth Dave Roberts-hosted show. I just found on YouTube an aircheck of Dave's speaking parts from that show (the songs are mostly cut out).
