It could be because their biggest hit was overplayed, or you're biased against songs that had more mainstream success, or because the song itself just stinks, but what are some acts whose biggest hit doesn't interest you as much as their other hits?
There are several categories:
1. It could be a one-hit wonder where you like a non-charting hit more than the Top 40 hit.
* I think Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" is OK, but I much prefer their non-Top 40 hit "Hang On Now" and the non-charting "Turn Your Back on Me".
* Don't care for Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower", as opposed to "Purple Haze" or "Fire", which I like better.
2. It could be a two-hit wonder where you prefer the lower-charting hit.
* I prefer A-ha's "The Sun Always Shines on TV" to "Take on Me", but that could be because of overexposure, since I probably liked "Take on Me" at some point. I also like "Cry Wolf" and non-charting "The Living Daylights".
* I like Will to Power's "I'm Not in Love" way more than "Baby, I Love Your Way/Freebird Medley (Free Baby)" (if I liked it at all).
3. It could be an act where you don't like the highest-charting song from an album.
* I don't care for The Chainsmokers' "Closer", but I love "Don't Let Me Down" (both were from their EP "Collage").
* I don't think I was ever into Barenaked Ladies' "One Week", but I liked "It's All Been Done" (from "Stunt").
* Of all the hits from Billy Joel's "Glass Houses", "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" may be my least favorite of the four (the others being "You May Be Right" - the favorite, "Don't Ask Me Why", and "Sometimes a Fantasy").
* Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child o' Mine" may be my least favorite of the three "Appetite for Destruction" hits (I much prefer "Welcome to the Jungle" and have even started liking "Paradise City").
* I don't think I like the title track of Genesis' "Invisible Touch" as much as the other hits from the album ("Throwing It All Away", "Land of Confusion", "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", and "In Too Deep").
4. It could be an act where you like many or all of their hits, except their biggest one.
* I like many of Loverboy's Top 40 hits, but "Lovin' Every Minute of It" isn't one of them.
* Same with Queen. I like many of their hits to some extent, but I'm not really into "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".
