For July 1991: I think you mean "I CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE" for the High-5 song that entered AT40 in July 1991.

Hervard: When you get to October 1991, can you make a notation that this was the last month WYTZ 94.7 FM Chicago aired AT40 before dropping it the last weekend of October 1991 as it switched to simucast sister station WLS Talkradio 890 AM?

I was just thinking about that at work today. Yes, I will make a note of it - wasn't October 19 the last week that AT40 was on Z95? (and, IIRC, Z95 simulcasted with WLS sometime the following weekend)

^Yeah, I remember that. Had they stayed a regular Top 40 station, instead of trying to beat B96, they would likely have lasted longer. Their own stunt backfired on them indeed!

How would a top 40 rival stunt backfire? In Tampa, Florida, the circa September 1989 launch of top 40/dance Power 93 FM The Power Pig bashed top 40 rival Q 105 and the Power Pig defeated Q 105 in the ratings soaring to the top of the Arbitron ratings withinin a few months. Two words: Randy Michaels!

Hervard: Now that 1991 is complete, 1992 is next. This year features 2 big AT40 top 5 debuts when you get to them, and 1992 had the AT40 Radio Monitor chart source format for the whole year leading into the 2 part Top 100 of 1992 followed by when 1993 launched the beginning of the AT40 Top 40 Mainstream format which lasted 2 years (up to the July 1994 original AT40 demise in the USA and the January 1995 ending of AT40 in foreign countries).
Another thing about an October 1991 song - "Blowing Kisses in the Wind" by Paula Abdul was the first AT40 Sneak Peak song when the Sneak Peak feature was introduced on AT40 the third weekend in October 1991. Of course, the only 1991 Sneak Peak song to not make the AT40 chart at all was the December 1991 AT40 Sneak Peek song of "There Will Never Be Another Tonight" by Bryan Adams.

Hervard: When will the AT40 Shadoe Stevens debut critiques for 1992 by you come? Patience, my friend! Actually, it may be awhile before I get back to the project. I generally start doing yard work in March, but this year, it's been so cold that I've put a lot of it off. Now that we're a week into April, I need to play catch-up with the stuff I've put off, regardless of the cold weather (too bad I was too busy with Easter preparation last Saturday, as it was 57 degrees that day and would have been perfect). Plus I have lots of other "spring projects" to get done. My next work vacation is coming up in late May and, although I'm sure I'll get the 1992 commentary started before then, that would be when I'd have more time to work on it. That's one reason I'm working so hard to get all my yard work and stuff done, so I won't have to be doing that (as much, anyway) during my vacation. So indeed, I will eventually get done with my AT40 critiques - it just might be a little slow going over the next few weeks. FWIW, the bad weather is why I got 1990 and 1991 done as early as I did.

And a clarification on Tracie Spencer's "This House": After that - Tracie had 2 more AT40 songs, not 1 - "Tender Kisses" and "Love Me" - both in 1992!
