It was thirty years ago this Saturday (3/10) that Andy Gibb passed away-He was only thirty years old-Does anyone remember if Casey did any sort of tribute on "AT40"?

On the 4/2/1988 show, Casey did a story on Andy Gibb, including an obituary. His biggest hit, arguably, was played as a countdown extra: "Shadow Dancing".
Info courtesy of Pete's book: "American Top 40: The 80s".

Premiere played that April 2, 1988 show two years ago. If April 5, 1980 gets offered as an "A" option early in April, expect that 1988 show to be offered as a "B" option.
Oddly enough, that AT40 extra and tribute was not mentioned as a "coming up" teaser prior to the previous commercial break. Have there ever been any occurrences of lack of teasers of a tribute to a singer who passed away during any point in both runs of AT40 combined?
Sad that his life ended because of the demons we call drugs.

I don't think that the story would have been a last-minute insertion, since his death happened over three weeks before that show's airdate and I somehow doubt that they were taping the show that much ahead of time.

If a teaser would've been in place, it would've closed out Hour 1, because the tribute happened in the first segment of Hour 2 after #29. The shows didn't have Casey saying anything outside of "we have x number of hits to go on our way to the #1 song in the USA" while the end-of-hour theme plays in the background around that time. I remember in the 1984 year-end countdown, there was quite a bit of the opposite: Casey talking over the EOH theme, mentioning acts and things to come in the ensuing hour - but that practice was discontinued. Any teasers would've added time to the show (since said practice was discontinued), which likely was tight, not to mention several songs getting edited.
