Jazz trumpeter Hugh Masakela has died at the age of 78 from prostate cancer-In the summer of 1968,Masakela had a worldwide smash with the instrumental "Grazin' In The Grass"-The previous year,he perfomed at the Monterey Pop Festival-The Animals name checked him in their hit song "Monterey"-Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.

"Grazin'In The Grass" returned to the top forty a year later as a vocal hit for The Friends Of Distinction.

Hugh was briefly married to Miriam Makeba who had a top forty hit in 1967 called "Pata Pata".
