George Young passed away October 22, two weeks shy of his 71st birthday. Though George was best known as co-producer AC/DC's early albums, the older brother of Malcolm and Angus did make a mark in the music industry as an artist. With songwriting partner Harry Vanda, they composed and produced the Top 10 single "Love Is In The Air" for John Paul Young". In the late 70s George and Harry scored a hit in Europe and Asia as the studio group Flash and the Pan. Their "Hey, St. Peter" went Top 10 in Europe and Australia, and proved to be their only Hot 100 entry peaking at #76. They would peak at #7 on the UK charts with "Waiting For A Train" in 1983. In the 60s George (rhythm) and Harry (lead) were guitarists for the Easybeats. They charted 7 top 10 singles in Australia and were the first band from that country to have an international hit. The work day anthem peaked at #16 in the US. Friday On My Mind - EasybeatsA personal Easybeats favorite was covered in the 80s by INXS with Jimmy Barnes (as "Good Times").
