Even though Premiere has been releasing vintage shows for 10 years now, pick almost any year during the classic Casey era and you'll likely agree that Top 40 radio during the the month of July generated many memorable tunes. In no particular order, a few personal favorite summer music months include 1973, 1978, 1982, 1970, and 1977. No doubt about it...myself and another AT40 fan on the boards have said it to each other that the summer months are often the best! It's hard to really even pick which years are the best, because there are so many good songs during the May-August period each year. If I had to pick one year, it would probably be 1984...

It's much like old movies for me...I NEVER tire of watching them, and I will NEVER tire of listening to Casey no matter what. Case is why I got into radio and is still an inspiration to me even though my radio days are behind me. Yep, I get excited every weekend.

For me, it's sort of sentimental nostalgia. Like many people, listening to a particular show takes me back in time to either a really great period in my life, or a so-so period, or when things were difficult in one way or another. And like many of us, I remember listening to them when they first aired, never thinking I would be re-listening to them decades later. Kind of a time capsule of our lives in music.

I have over 365 shows from 1970-1995. And I never get tired of listening to them. It's part of my life that I fondly cherish. Music in general is a huge part of my life. AT40 is at the head of it. Like it was stated above, it's a time capsule.

I became a fan of the original "AT40" in May 1974-I'm glad Premiere is reairing the original shows-They certainly bring back a lot of memories.

Still very much a thrill, especially the shows from 1970-74. Particularly intriguing to me are the shows from July 1970 to February 1971 prior to my local station's AT40 affiliation.

The thrill will never die !!! Growing up listening to Casey was a memorable time in my life. While music has changed over the decades the way Casey brought the music to life through the stories he told can never be matched. Although I may have listened to repeats of shows many times...I always still learn something new....since then.... I've kept my feet on the ground and I still continue reaching for the stars....that pretty much sums it up for me.

I never get tired of listening to the old countdown shows. Sometimes I marvel that they get airplay at all, given how stingy many radio programmers are about deviating from the regular playlist. When the original AT40 Flashback got hacked up, then cancelled, I figured there was no chance these shows would ever air again.

The thrill is definitely gone from this week's 1976 show. The music is okay, but it seems this one has already been replayed at least 3 or 4 times.

Premiere has only played 8/21/76 twice before, in 2012 by itself and 2013 as a B. Maybe it's been on the iHeart AT40 channel a lot? We did get the two surrounding August 1976 shows in each of the last two years. I do remember hearing it on Sirius XM before Premiere ever aired it (2010?)

Funny that this thread popped up again because I asked myself this exact question not that long ago when I realized that I can't remember the last time I went a whole day without hearing Casey's voice, thanks to me listening to the Classic AT40 channel every day for the last year or so.
My answer to this is that I'm not as excited to listen to the show as I was when I started listening ten years ago, but I still make it a point to listen every weekend.

1986? Again?? Hard to stay excited when it was also the only offering just three weeks ago. Someone on the staff must really love that year! They totally overdid it last year and it recently hit the "100 Club", yet it doesn't even look like any other years are going to reach that anytime soon.

Really 'thrilled' about this week with two pre-75 shows on tap--my favorite AT40 era.

Imagine what it may feel like if the 3rd hour of 7/18/1970 ever resurfaces..

Think anyone at Premiere is taking cues from Rick Dees?
