Bobby Freeman passed away Saturday, January 28 at his home in Anson, TX. He was 76. Bobby charted 4 Top 40 hits between 1958 and 1964. There is a bit of symmetry with his chart history. Two of his 4 Top 40 hits peaked at #37, while the other pair peaked at #5. His two #5 hits are both notable. The 1964 hit was known for the great introduction "C'mon everybody, c'mon in. Bobby's gonna show you how to do the swim." "C'mon And Swim" was released on the fledgling San Francisco based Autumn label, catalog #2. Sylvester Stewart, the songwriter and producer would go on to a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career as Sly Stone. Bobby wrote his first #5 hit which became a rock and roll standard. It later would become a lost 60s classic for the Mamas and Papas and Del Shannon. It was also a Top 20 hit for the Beach Boys (Dennis Wilson on lead vocals), and a sultry Bette Midler cover that was her first Top 40 hit. Bobby's 1958 original allegedly featured guitar work by a very young Jerry Garcia. Do You Want To Dance - Bobby FreemanObituary
