Whenever I hear the opening chords of Mariah Carey’s “Can’t Let Go” I think of “One Last Try” by George Michael.
I love Stevie Nicks but she totally ripped off Prince’s “Little Red Corvette”. Every time I hear “Little Red Corvette” I think of “Stand Back”.

Nicks freely admits the 'borrow', with Prince's consent. He is the uncredited synthesizer player on the track. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand_Backside note: Just saw her PBS concert the other night (yes, it's 'Pledge Week')--when she performs 'Stand Back' images of Prince are projected on the video screen behind her and her band.

Whenever I hear the opening chords of Mariah Carey’s “Can’t Let Go” I think of “One Last Try” by George Michael. You mean "One More Try"? Yeah, the prelude to the song does sound a lot like that. But, when the song starts proper, the first five notes of the song sound exactly like "Love Will Lead You Back" by Taylor Dayne. On several different occasions, I was fooled into thinking the Mariah song was the Taylor song (although, usually, when I heard "Can't Let Go" on the radio, it started out with said prelude, so I knew that it was going to be that song).

The guy who lives behind me has on some satellite station playing country music. There was a song that, for awhile, I thought was "Behind Blue Eyes" by the Who (and, hence, I thought he switched to a classic rock station). As I listened to the song more, I realized it wasn't BBE. Not sure what it was, since I didn't catch any lyrics, but I do know that the song ended with a short piano solo, playing the melody of the chorus.

I still get “It’s All Right” and “But It’s Alright” by Huey Lewis mixed up.

I still get “It’s All Right” and “But It’s Alright” by Huey Lewis mixed up. For a long while, that happened to me, too. To not help matters, they charted in back-to-back years (1993 & 1994).

The opening of ABBA's "Fernando" is quite reminiscent of S&G's "El Condor Pasa," both of which appear in this week's respective countdowns.

At least the styles are quite different. The 1994 one has the typical late 60s rock sound (as that was when the original charted). The 1993 one reminds me a little of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin.

The first time I heard "You Can Do It" by Dobie Gray, I thought it was "Stayin' Alive."

There's a week in 1972 when America is #1 with "Horse With No Name" while Neil Young is at #2 with "Heart of Gold." Both voices sounds exactly the same.

It didn't happen when they hit in 1987, but 35 years later I have on more than one occasion mixed up Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" and "Who's That Girl". Those two songs were back to back in regards of singles released by her as well.

When I first heard the opening notes of "Time In A Bottle" as a child, I thought it was "Chim Chim Cher-ee" by Dick Van Dyke & Julie Andrews.

Whenever I hear the opening chords of Mariah Carey’s “Can’t Let Go” I think of “One Last Try” by George Michael. I hear that at the very beginning. And when the music kicks in, I certainly hear this jam by Keith Sweat: www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2ZEAm8GVVY

"Hot Number" by Foxy could have been "Get Off Part 2".
