This week marks the 50th anniversary of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones hitting No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. It hit No. 1 during the week of July 10, 1965 and stayed there for 4 consecutive weeks. "Satisfaction" was also played as an extra on the first American Top 40 show, which aired on the weekend of July 4, 1970. To take it one step further, The Rolling Stones will be playing at Comerica Park in my hometown of Detroit on Wednesday.

In last Sunday's edition of The NY Daily News, music critic Jim Farber said that "Satisfaction" is thought by many to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time-I wholeheartedly agree.

This past weekend (last night, on the 4th), The Rolling Stones were in concert at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, about a mile from my apartment. (I think this was the first concert ever at IMS not affiliated with a race.) Last night, I arrived home a little after 11 PM from visiting family south of Indpls. And upon stepping out of my car, would you believe I could clearly hear the concert, even though I was about a mile away. (Mick was belting out the beginning to "You Can't Always Get What You Want.") No offense to my family, but I almost wished I had stayed home last night, as I could have heard the whole concert for free.

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine listed "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" as No. 2 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time".
