I would bet the farm that in the 70's series, Premiere will re-air the very first AT40 show from July 4, 1970. It's the 45th anniversary (last time they played this show was in 2010--on the 40th). IINM, this show was made available to affiliates last year following Casey's death, with some changes from the previous re-broadcast (a couple of original extras cut from earlier re-broadcasts were put back in).

Guys, thanks for the correction on the 1987 special "The 40 Biggest Hits Of The 80's (So Far)"-I wasn't aware that Premiere has already aired it.

Well WTH? That blows! Keep an eye here. Ken Martin's station will likely run a marathon in the future for these number one shows along with a few other stations who will run part 5 over July 4th weekend. I assume there are no plans for WTOJ to re-run the #1 songs of the 70s and 80s over Fourth Of July weekend, correct? Perhaps they'll do that on Labor Day weekend.

Ken's been pretty good at running those #1's marathons... he'll likely announce his plans within the week (probably too far out now).

Maybe not even Labor Day weekend. I would say next Memorial Day for sure. Ken Martin could tell us when the time comes. I say next Memorial Day for sure because that is when the Number 1 songs of the 80's show is expected to begin.

OK, here it is, straight from the horses mouth.
This Independence day WTOJ will NOT be doing the marathon #1's again. I'm still considering doing it over Labor Day ... with this much audio, I really need a 3 day weekend to make it happen and not "waste" audio in the overnight hours.
BTW, I just finished up Part 4 of the 80's. That ended with U2 "I Still Haven't Found ..."
And for the record, on WTOJ for the July 4th weekend, it's "The Magic of Summer" ... non-stop summer songs (Beach Boys and songs about summer) along with songs that were hits in the summertime.

On Memorial Day weekend, WTRY played AT40: The 80s on Saturday night & AT40: The 70s Sunday morning. Followed that up with "#1 Hits of the 1970s, Part 4" & "The Triathlon of Rock & Roll" later that day.
I am interested to find out if WTRY carries all the Fourth of July shows.

Just heard back from Mike Eiland-WODC is running part 5 of "The #1 Hits Of The 70's" next Sunday night at 7. This, actually, is going to be the "special countdown" option for all 70s affiliates. The 80s will have one too - first airing in 2007, the "Giants of Rock and Roll" special from 1986 is coming back for another turn: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-04-86%20Spec.pdfObviously, it would behoove us to keep track of who's going to play these shows. Regular countdowns for the July 4 weekend to be posted shortly, in their respective threads.

I was hoping for 7/4/76 AKA #1 Songs on the 4th of July where Ken Martin took that "Silly Loves Songs" by Paul McCartney & Wings Casey Kasem intro on his #1 Hits of The 70's Part 4. Maybe next year when it celebrates its 40th Anniversary and our country a 240th!
