No one likes commercials! I don’t know anyone who sits around with the radio or TV on saying “hey this countdown show is good” or “NCIS is ok but man those commercials are where it’s at! I hope more come on soon!” No one does this. I even pay for the no commercials version of CBS All Access to avoid them altogether. But the key there is I PAY to do this. The difference between most everyone else and you is most seem to get they are necessary for terrestrial radio and TV stations to survive. Ad rates have plummeted in the age of DVR’s and the plethora of music options. Why after years of you complaining about it you still don’t grasp this concept is beyond me. Commercial time isn’t decreasing. I wonder if he'd prefer to have a subscription service, such as SiriusXM, broadcast ACC Rewind, AT40 repeats, etc.? Which he has to pay money for. Brian

Something we both agree with here. But it's no use arguing with him. He's against commercials, period...Perhaps Dave would prefer a subscription-based service, who knows. Exactly. You make some great points. But, there's no changing some people's minds. Including mine. 😊

Brian I sub to SXM and I wouldn’t want that! They’d butcher ACC reruns of the same way they do AT40’s. It’s awful.

With that in mind, some very sad news to share regarding Bob Kingsley: A week after announcing to his audience that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer, the 80-year-old legendary radio host passed away this morning at his home. A link is below: www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/190626/bob-kingsley-dies-at-age-80?ref=mail_bulletin&fbclid=IwAR1wq0cA4nYg1YZvyPo1S78elJb5JEf5b_0s5kCpevIctU-nZUTtGVStatYThere's so many memories I could share listening to Bob Kingsley and his hosting of ACC that I could write a book. As he aged, he truly was the "cool old dude" (as TV Tropes might put it) who still loved the music and the stars. He'll be missed greatly. Brian

And as I said in Brett’s thread, this is very sad. RIP.

Why can't there be the same commercial load, when the shows were originally broadcast, years ago? I wouldn't mind that.

Maybe try an aircheck perhaps? Or at least acquire the ACC shows as they were originally broadcast. In honor of his passing the 10/29/94 aircheck is now up (which the rewind show did air a few years ago minus Hour 1, where it has the new country feature segment). If anything I wished they would go back to the pre-2018 format where the CT40 rewind streaming was unedited and like an original broadcast (with the scoped ads removed), but unlikely to happen.

Look at television, a half hour show is lucky to have 18 minutes of content when in the past it was about 22 minutes. On some networks that show older shows, they allot 35 minutes for older 30 minute shows like "Friends", so they can fit even more commercials.

Here's the last segment of the 10/29/94 aircheck.

Hopefully, WW1 will respect Bob now, and air his signoff for the shows, now that he's dead.

Not holding my breath on it, but at least the rewind show will continue for now, and this week they are going back to October 20, 1990 (a new show).

Surprised 1991 wasn't picked, as it hasn't aired since early July, and no October 1991 shows have aired yet in the series. Got one more weekend left this year to make that happen...

Kudos to WW1, for not editing any of Bob Kingsley's sigmpff. from the show. At least there's SOME respect for the dead.
