You mentioned 1957 when you reviewed all the #1 remakes of #1 songs and said, "Since the Hot 100 began in 1957, 9 songs have done that". DId a good job reviewing those songs and the show was well done. Forgot to mention that I liked the reference to all the infidelity songs. That was neat and if you choose to do one of these countdowns for either of the weeks that the year end show was aired, one of the most well known infidelity songs in AT40 history topped the chart. BTW, that B side spotlight of Bill Withers #1 song that was remade into a #1 song reminds me of his 4th top 40 hit, "Kissing My Love" a little.

According to facebook post, this week's presentation: Top 100 Most Missed Lost Hits Part 1; and next week's is Top 100 Most Missed Lost Hits Part 2.
Anyway what does top 100 most missed lost hits mean? Does it mean that any of the songs haven't been played frequently on airplay?

Kani, there is a Facebook page called Lost Pop Hits M.I.A.
Music fans post their favorite songs that radio doesn't play anymore.
Last year we took a survey of everyone and then voted on the songs they missed the most. The rankings were determined in those votes. Lots of songs you don't hear at all anymore. All 100 are pretty big hits mostly 60's to 80's but some 90's is in there too. Not as many were voted for.

Working on the schedule for next year and happy to announce we'll have 22 different 60's shows, 7 shows from the 70's (including 3 pre AT40 weeks from 1970) and a whole lot of new specials.
A few on certain artists, a label countdown, one top 100 for a certain country for a decade in time and TWO "year end" style shows. Among others...

Great countdown today (9/9/67)!
One small quibble, though it's very understandable. "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" is by Jay and the Techniques, not Jay and the Americans.
Actually two small quibbles. Now I'm craving Bakers Square!

d**n, did I mis speak? I always nuts up those two. We're doing 67 again in December and I just scripted it and caught myself typing Americans and fixed it. Guess I didn't there.

Geez, I am not a 60s guru like 1finemrg but I certainly know 60s music. But I had never heard of Jay & the Techniques. Looked it up in Whitburn's book and found a strange pattern with these 2 groups. Jay & the Americans had hits from 62 to 66. Jay & the Techniques had hits in 67 and 68 but the Americans did not. Then it flipped where the Americans had hits in 69 and 70 while the Techniques did not. So these groups never came close to being in the top 40 at the same time.

Well, I'm looking forward to that. Love Jay and the Techniques follow-up Top 40 hit (#14) which never gets played anymore.

Thanks, bestmusicexpert, for another great '60's countdown last night; I'll be critiquing it later in the week. I just had a question about the upcoming two-part countdown featuring the Top 100 hits on the Canadian charts in the '80's. (Which, BTW, I'm very much looking forward to.) Will there be an overabundance of songs by Canadian artists represented, in keeping with Canadian FCC-style laws demanding a certain percentage of songs on the radio be by Canadian acts? Or will it reflect what Canadians at the time really loved and really spent money on? I hope it's the latter.

It's the latter. There's actually very few Canadians within the top 100!
