With WODC likely playing this show, are there any stations others besides WTOJ playing this?

Sorry for the late notice. I honestly didn't get any official notice that it was offered to 70s affiliates until a little birdie ProBoards member confirmed it. I'm greatly relieved that we can be a part of it. Had I looked in the correct part of the program site to begin with I'd have known. Enjoy! I already plan to listen to a couple of other stations for it this weekend also! Thanks for all the help here with the information!

btw---I love the Saturday afternoon airings...my prime radio listening time. Of course, it won't be on a transistor radio, but the phones ARE the new transistor radios!

Is there a confirmed stream I can tune into, to hear Gary's show? Please let me know if there is. Thanks, gang. Dave - WODC and WTOJ for sure. I sent you a message with airtimes

I didn't get that memo but a dear friend got the info to me. My PD gets that stuff and he didn't get the chance to forward to me apparently before going out of town. So the PLAN is to air the Gary Owens show as a Sunday night special presentation at 7:00PM, since it's a 4-hour show. I'll confirm sometime Friday and the chart info will be posted as usual. Mike - thank you for adding this at the last minute. It is appreciated and I look forward to hearing it

Thanks Michael, for helping us identify the first to commit to the show! TOO bad they're not on DAR ! Can anyone add a station on dar.fm or must it be from some who works at the station? If anyone can, someone could add WTOJ.

Thanks matt and BrettVW! The nighttime Sunday broadcasts on WODC play all the extras because it's OK for the show to run late then. The shows moved from 9P-12MD and 8P-12MD slots to keep them from going past midnight. Now they just go to 11:15P+ when starting at 7 and 8. Reason: The station's regular commercial load runs whether AT40 is on at night or not. Changes won't be made to accommodate something that runs occasionally, so it's better running all the spots and all of the show than having no AT40 extra shows at all. Seems to be working out.

I like it. I'm not up until 12:15/12:20 am on a work night

Mike, I'm guess on the radio, there are more ads during these late airings of AT40. Online, an extra song is played from both the 70s and 80s (3 to 4 minutes long) but it doesn't interfere at all with the show.

I really want to thank Premiere for making this show available, and those few stations that are running it for putting it on the radio so it will actually be heard. I'm not surprised that there apparently hasn't been much take-up of it among affiliates. As we've discussed ad nauseum in the past, nostalgia for "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem" is what makes the syndication of Classic AT40 a viable enterprise. Few listeners remember any of the guest hosts, and few of the guest hosts are truly well-known to the casual listener. It's a shame that it takes someone passing away to give Premiere an excuse to distribute a guest-hosted show, but that's just the way it is.
Premiere may have felt that Owens had a little bit more name recognition than most of the other guest hosts due to "Soundtrack of the Sixties", enough to make it worth distributing this show. But I can't see a station carrying this show unless they have a real Classic AT40 buff on staff (like Ken and Mike), or someone at the station was a fan of something Owens did somewhere along the line.
I sometimes wonder if, as much as Premiere has to do what's commercially viable, they do appreciate that there's a fan base out there with a deep interest in the show, and sometimes make an effort to throw us a bone. Even if only a few stations carry a show, thanks to the internet, someone who lives a thousand miles away can find a way to hear that show if they really want to hear it. Moving forward, who knows, maybe we'll even see a few more guest-hosted shows slip out.
