An Austrian extra: Fahrenheit
Some called them the "Carinthian answer to Europe and Bon Jovi", others simply saw them as representatives of Arena Rock and placed their records next to those of Bryan Adams and Journey. The band Fahrenheit was founded in 1986 in Carinthia and was able to record some respect successes in the 80s. In addition to the Loverboy´s cover "Turn Me Loose" here are "You And I" and "Talking ´bout Love":

Just finished listening to 9/29/84, and decided to move on to 10/6/84. Naked Eyes were a criminally underrated band of the early 80's. "What In the Name of Love" appears on both of these shows at #39, and would be their last top 40 hit in the States. The first time I heard "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" in April 1985, I immediately thought it was Naked Eyes, only to find out shortly thereafter that it was some new group called Tears for Fears. Interestingly enough, both groups were from Bath, England -- coincidence that both had a similar sound?

10/18/86:Corey Hart - I Am By Your Side Daryl Hall - Dreamtime Loverboy - Heaven In Your EyesNu Shooz - Point Of No Return Triumph - Somebody´s Out There Male and femaleThis week we have three women in the Top 3. And at #2 we have a song called "Typical Male". But what is really considered typical male or typical female ? Is the handling of alligators really typically male or typically female ? Well, the TV series "Miami Vice" probably gave the impression that the correct handling of alligators is rather something for men. But Gabby Scampone is a proof that dealing with alligators can also be women´s business. The "Gator Girl" is simply interested in reptiles. At Everglades Holiday Park she works as a nurse and a trainer. She does live shows for an audience, but also takes care of the health and well-being of the alligators. "When you work with animals, there are always risks. But if you work with predators like these, you can lose your hand or your fingers. They can rip your arm off. It´s not a joke." Together with her boss Paul, the American rescues so-called "annoying" alligators that conquer people´s homes. "Most animal hunters catch alligators and kill them - then they sell the flesh and skin. Paul and I are two of the few in the state who don´t kill them." Now, back the music. And maybe we can find "typical male" or "typical female" parts in the following editions: " female"-edition:
10/18/86:
Aretha Franklin - Jumpin´ Jack Flash Janet Jackson - When I Think Of You Madonna - True Blue Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts Tina Turner - Typical Male " male"-edition: 10/18/86:Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name Glass Tiger - Don´t Foregt Me (When I´m Gone) Journey - Girl Can´t Help It Run DMC & Aerosmith - Walk This Way Van Halen - Love Walks In An Austrian exta: Joachim Palden & Dana GillespieMale and female in this week´s Austrian extra, too. Joachim Palden, born on 1/8/1960 in Vienna, attended regular blues concerts in his early youth due to the great musical interest of his parents. Already at the age of 13 the classical piano studies he had begun had to give way to boogie woogie when he visited the Viennese "Jazzland" more and more often and heard black blues musicians like Champion Jack Dupree, Roosevelt Sykes, Little Brother Montgomery, Memphis Slim and many others playing live. There he also met the European boogie-woogie pianists Vince Weber, Axel Zwingenberger, Martin Pyrker and the late George Möller, who influenced his musical development at that time. Many of his concerts were still during his school days. So he gave up school shortly before graduating from high school to devote himself fully to music and practice it professionally. In the fall of 1990 Joachim went to Chicago to work as a pianist on two albums. Due to the increased number of concerts with Dana Gillespie ( at40fg.proboards.com/post/151972) the desire of the fans for a common record became stronger and stronger. In 1990 "Boogie Woogie Nights" (Dana´s first live CD ever) was released (also in the USA and Japan). Their success proved them right, so, in 1992 their second album "Big Boy", which was produced in England, was released. In the same year a triumphal tour through India followed. Joachim Palden is now already one of the established boogie pianists and is in great demand all over the world both as a studio musician and as a live act.
Time for boogie: Here are Joachim Palden and Dana Gillespie with "Come On": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

The 10/30/82 countdown was the very first replay of a countdown I heard in its entirety on WVRV/101.5 FM out of Toledo... arguably the first station to not air most '80 or '81 shows. So if you don't care for the whole A/B show thing, you can blame 101.5 "The River" . In honor of this show, I'll rate all 40 songs with 27 being favorites (4, 4 1/2 or 5 stars). Here we go:5 stars/awesome: I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near), You Can Do Magic, Hold On, The One You Love, Love Come Down, Southern Cross, Steppin' Out, Pressure, Love Me Tomorrow 4 1/2 stars/excellent: Who Can It Be Now, Jack & Diane, Eye In The Sky, Somebody's Baby, I Ran (So Far Away), Gypsy, Don't Fight It, New World Man, You Don't Want Me Anymore, IGY (What A Beautiful World), The Look Of Love, I'm So Excited 4 stars/very good: Up Where We Belong, Heart Attack, Gloria, Mickey, It's Raining Again, Rock This Town 3 1/2 stars/better than average: Muscles 3 stars/solid: Truly, What's Forever For, I Need You 2 1/2 stars/OK: Heartlight, American Heartbeat, Nobody, Sweet Time, I Get Excited, Young Love 2 stars/meh: Break It To Me Gently 1 1/2 stars/not so good: Get Closer 1 star/awful: Athena (to quote the lyrics, this song "'s a bomb") My Top 23 songs from the 10/25/75 countdown (in my usual format):Top 10: Bad Blood, Calypso, Miracles, Lyin' Eyes, Games People Play, Who Loves You, Island Girl, Ballroom Blitz, It Only Takes A Minute #11-20: Heatwave, Dance With Me, This Will Be, Lady Blue, The Way I Want To Touch You, Low Rider, SOS#21-30: Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady, Sky High, Born To Run, Fame, Nights On Broadway#31-40: Fly Robin Fly, Sweet Sticky Thing

"Heartlight" would be a zero star song for me. That song is awful. Agree with the rest of your ratings, give or take a 1/2 star. Nice list... "Heartlight" at least has a sing-along refrain. But since you brought up my score... I'll knock it down to 2 1/2 stars. Thanks for the feedback! Also downgraded since my original post is "Athena". I just subjected myself to that tune on YouTube... I am not sure why. I am dumbfounded how "Athena" made it to #28 while the follow up, "Eminence Front" only peaked at #68. "Eminence Front" is my second favorite tune by The Who, right behind "Love Reign O'er Me."

10/30/82 (A):A Flock Of Seagulls - I Ran Chicago - Love Me Tomorrow Glenn Frey - The One You LoveJoe Jackson - Steppin´ Out Supertramp - It´s Raining Again 10/27/84 (B):Corey Hart - It Ain´t EnoughKenny Rogers, Kim Carnes & James Ingram - What About Me Rod Stewart - Some Guys Have All The Luck Steve Perry - Strung Out The Fixx - Are We Ourselves October, 26thJoy with the Aborigines in Australia. On 10/26/2019, the long-awaited climbing ban, which was imposed as a respect for the culture of the Australian natives, will come into force. The 348 metre high mountain, glowing red in the outback, is already a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site. Speaking of UNESCO and UNO: This year the "Vienna International Center" - better known among Viennese as "UNO-City" - celebrates its 40th anniversary. It was opened in 1979 in the 22nd district and handed over to international organizations. Since then it has been a landmark of Vienna and an important venue for international diplomatic dialogue. Especially on Austria´s national holiday, 10/26, the "UNO City" will once again be in the public spotlight. Austrian radio stations are also celebrating Austria´s National Day 2019: Hitradio Ö3 plays the 100 most important songs from Austria from 8 am to 4 pm. And the new Radio Austria with the former "Ö3-Wecker" presenter and AT40 proponent Rudi Klausnitzer starts at 6 am with the following schedule: 6 am/Good Morning Austria9 am/Best of Radio with music requests/on the first day of broadcasting a special countdown to the official start of broadcasting with prominent radio guests such as Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Brigitte Bierlein 12 pm/VIP-Lounge/on 10/26/2019 with Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen 2 pm/The daily hit election 4 pm/The Austria-Show with all news of the day 7 pm/Radio Austria live from the events of the evening The website www.radioaustria.at/ with online-player, quizzes, studio-hotline and frequencies is already online. I don´t see "AT40" on the schedule yet, but maybe there will be a slot left, especially in the night or at the weekend: But now, let´s search for a countdown that combines "AT40", "10/26" and "debuts": Well, on the 10/26/85-show we have 7 debuts. And all 7 debuts are back to back from #40 to #34. So, here´s my special " debut"-edition from the 10/26/85-show: 10/26/85 (guest-host: Charlie Van Dyke)Klymaxx - I Miss YouOlivia Newton John - Soul Kiss Ray Parker Junior - Girls Are More Fun Scritti Politti - Perfect Way Simple Minds - Alive And Kicking An Austrian extra: Bingoboys (or Bingo Boys) The Bingoboys (also Bingo Boys) were a dance trio from Vienna, consisting of Paul Pfab, Helmut Wolfgruber and Klaus Biedermann. At the beginning of the 1990s, the music project achieved a world hit with "How To Dance". The track was a collaboration with rapper Princessa from New York, who was responsible for singing about the used sample, dance, dance, dance by Chic, dance (disco heat) by Sylvester James and Kiss by The Art of Noise featuring Tom Jones. The track also included a male voice that explains dance steps. Further successes of the Bingoboys were "Chartbuster" in 1992 and "Ten More Minutes" in 1994: from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

I thought I would do something different. Hope you don’t mind. jessica ... Welcome back! Of course we don't mind if you do a different twist on our favorites list... even if you really like "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You" . I really like Milli Vanilli's four other songs from '89 and '90 but I never understood how GIGMY made it to #1. It's not a bad song... it just doesn't have the right hook for me. I really like most of your other picks from all three years. For me the beauty of music is that it not only transcends borders, but can also evoke different emotions and memories. It can also track political content, such as Nena´s "99 Luftballons", which hardly has a hookline. And not infrequently a single artist manages to create the right music for different situations. Here´s an example: Chris Rea For the right feeling on the beach: "On the Beach" For learning a jive in a dancing school: "Let´s Dance" And for special days like All Saints´ Day, All Souls´ Day, but also Christmas: "Tell Me There´s A Heaven"
