"Mother & Child Reunion" was the name of an entree that Paul Simon spotted on a menu for a Chinese restaurant. One that contained both chicken and eggs in the ingredients, I assume. Nice! đ

An Austrian extra: Springtime
Norbert Niedermayer, Gerhard Markel and Walter Markel founded the band "Springtime" in the mid 70s which at that time was the most successful pop band in Austria. In 1976 they gave us the song "Jingle Me, Jingle You":
In 1978 Springtime represented Austria at the Eurovision´s song contest, but the band´s biggest hit was "Mr. Captain" in 1977:

My Top 34 songs from the 3/31/84 countdown (song titles only, absolute faves in bold):Top 10: All of 'em! Footloose, Somebody's Watching Me, Jump, Here Comes The Rain Again, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, I Want A New Drug, Against All Odds, Automatic, Adult Education, Miss Me Blind#11-20: 99 Luftballoons, Hold Me Now, Hello, Thriller, Got A Hold On Me, New Moon On Monday, Radio Ga Ga#21-30: All of 'em! Girls, Give It Up, The Runner, Come Back & Stay, They Don't Know, Love Somebody, Love Song, You Might Think, Don't Answer Me, Tonight#31-40: Leave It, Nobody Told Me, The Authority Song, Head Over Heels, The Kid's American, A Fine Fine Day, One In A Million** The Romantics get my Shooda Dun Betr Pick this week... with a caveat. There were two different versions of this song played on AT40 during its three-week run. The first version below is the single/MTV version, and it's a gem. The second version below (with the band members decked out in red) is the album version, and there's a different feel to it... oh so slightly slower, and it doesn't sound on key. The guitars are also more pronounced than on the MTV version, and the production doesn't sound as crisp either. Had the original been the album version, I wonder if this could have been a bigger hit. Two other reasons for selecting this tune: The Romantics are from Detroit which is where I live (DEE-TROIT CITY!), and truth be told, in 1984, I had really tall hair just like singer Wally Palmer does in this video version. Sometimes, we may make interesting hairstyle choices when we're in our junior year of high school : My Top 21 songs from the 3/27/76 countdown:Top 10: December 1963 (Oh What A Night), Dream Weaver, All By Myself*, Dream On, Let Your Love Flow, Right Back Where We Started From #11-20: Golden Years, Fanny (Be Tender With My Love), Only 16, Sweet Love, Take It To The Limit, Bohemian Rhapsody, Show Me The Way #21-30: Love Machine, Boogie Fever, Love Hurts, Theme From SWAT, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover #31-40: Slow Ride, He's A Friend, Lorelei * Eric Carmen gets my Yes, I'm A Guy And I'll Admit I Love Some Really Mushy Ballads Pick this week. This is an absolutely gorgeous tune... wonderful piano work, great strings, and Eric's singing is so heartfelt. Radio needs to rip off this idea again just like Eric did here and Barry Manilow did on "Could It Be Magic"... take a line from a classical tune and incorporate it into a new song, and make the piano the focus. Two other reasons for selecting this tune: Eric Carmen was born in Cleveland which is where I was born (REPRESENTING THE LAND!), and when I was in 3rd grade back in 1976, I had hair that kinda grew every which direction it wanted to just like Eric's hair here . Here are the single and full album versions of "All By Myself" for your listening pleasure (album version on the left):

One In A Million is a catchy tune. 1984 was a great year for pop music, imo, and there are a lot of gems which didn't crack the top 30 due to stiff competition for airplay.

Today Rusty & Jay live in Munich and they are still in the business, this time as Marshall X (see www.marshall-x.com/ for more details). Sometimes, we may make interesting hairstyle choices when we're in our junior year of high school : [...] And this brings me to a very special " Detroit"-edition: Alice Cooper - School´s Out Glenn Frey - This Way To Happiness Orchester Mike Post - Theme From Magnum P.I. (due to Mr. Tom Selleck) Smokey Robinson - Tears Of A Clown Suzi Quatro - The Race Is On And then we have a superstar who celebrates his birthday in just a few hours, exactly on March 26th. So, ladies and gentleman, get on your feet, it´s time for cha cha cha. Here´s Diana Ross with "Upside Down":
