And Green Day? I mean, come on! There are MANY older bands not in there that should be in before them!

Interesting to note that three of the six acts will be inducted posthumously:Paul Butterfield died in 1987,Stevie Ray Vaughan died in 1990 & Lou Reed died in 2013.

Lou Reed (recent passing) and Stevie Ray Vaughan (first nomination) were no-brainers. Little surprised with Joan Jett, but she does represent the women in rock well. Very surprised but glad that Paul Butterfield Blues Band made it. Green Day's credentials are good enough to be there; it does hold appeal to later generations.
Don't get me started with acts that should have been elected. I think the last line of the linked article puts it nicely: Still no Deep Purple.
My top 5 acts not in: Moody Blues Chicago Todd Rundgren Deep Purple ELO
Todd and Jeff Lynne should be inducted not only based on their catalogue of songs, but their production work as well.
Nice tip of the cap to Ringo.
Also Chic extends their record for most nominations without election (9).

My congratulations go out to both Bill Withers, then Ringo Starr, his induction now opens the door for Phil Collins solo, though I'd wish/hope Electric Light Orchestra with Jeff Lynne would get in before him, also sad about The Spinners and WAR not getting their respective nods, no Casey Kasem either!

Lest I forget, huge kudos to Bill Withers. Hoping that his induction will be a "Lovely Day" for him.

Chicago, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Electric Light Orchestra, and Yes need to get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

www.cleveland.com/music/index.ssf/2014/12/rock_and_roll_hall_of_fame_fou.html"The Hall of Fame Foundation fixed what was broken, and now they have a chance to do it again, using their own formula. Create a "Legends of Rock'' category – or even, using current President and CEO Greg Harris' old employer, the Baseball Hall of Fame as a model, set up a committee to select veteran acts for inclusion. And put Chicago, Deep Purple, the Doobies, Procul Harum, ELO, Moody Blues, Yes and the rest in the Rock Hall of Fame, where they deserve to be. And do it before they're all DEAD!"

Based on what I've seen the R&R Hall of Fame do, these would be my choices for induction:
Chubby Checker Chér Grand Funk Railroad Kool & the Gang The Chi-Lites The Meters Dolly Parton Rick James Billy Idol Culture Club Duran Duran Janet Jackson
Sidemen: Dennis Coffey Ray Parker Jr. Dave Navarro Tom Moulton
Non Performers: Mike Chapman Bill Drake Casey Kasem Don Cornelius Roy Clark Frankie Crocker
I feel you have to be more than a great musician to qualify for the Hall of Fame. You also have to embody some type of rebellion against the establishment and/or create some type of idol worship.
