Can't even IMAGINE any other pop station that'd still play 'Dusic', by Brick!

I have been away for some time for various reasons but I want to get back into the regular listening habits of AT40. So I come to this thread to find the latest station options and discover the person who took over the maintenance abandoned it last year. So the obvious question I have is: Why are people investing time in sharing updates but no one is starting a new thread to keep the main listing accurate. I see someone has graciously created a new 80's thread to maintain it and I see some great candidates to do so for the 70's thread.

As I said when I did the November 2014 update: "I'm not in a position to commit to regularly updating the list of stations, but with no edit to the 70s or 80s station lists since early August, it was getting hard to keep track of the current situation re stations, times, etc. So I figured I'd update the list through all the current comments. I hope that's OK with the powers that be, and I will track and amend this list for as long as I am able." I did what I could last November, when the list last got seriously out of date, making clear I could not commit to long-term updating (though I did update it for as long as I could). Had I not taken the many hours it took to do that update, it would have been twice as out of date now. I hope someone can do another update, but it's very time-consuming.

I'll say something that could get me flamed or banned, buft am going to say it. It is not directed at anyone.
I've been on these forums since the beginning and was on the original ones as well as a dumb annoying high school kid. I would happily help out with a list like this, but the sense of entitlement around here lately makes me know it would be a thankless job. I work full time like I imagine many of us do. I participate here because of my love of radio and AT40. But lately coming here and seeing some of the bickering and complaining to Premiere over show choices; station airtimes, and optional extras (whoever thought fights could break out over bonus material inserted into repeats of a radio show...but i digress) But lately nobody is happy. Folks are mad at the stations, Premiere and each other and don't appreciate the shows anymore, they want more and only look for what they want, not what makes business sense for the stations and Premiere to keep things rolling. No one is ever thankful that all these decades later the shows were preserved and reair. Instead everyone from Premiere to station PD's and each other becomes an idiot, moron, and stupid because decisions are made that some don't agree with. I hate to see some of you at home.
If there was still a sense of community around here I would help out with an affiliate list in a heartbeat. But nobody will be happy with anything that is done the way things currently are and will just take and criticize rather than be thankful that there is a community like this for fans to get together each week.
I'd say this community has grown three or four times the size it was it started and is more active than ever. And I think that is wonderful. The fact that this many people around the world are so interested and passionate about AT40 always blows me away. I think everyone thought they were the weird kid for being so attached to our radios, and now it's a place for all of us to get together and share and revel in that. And of course throughout discussion people will disagree and not always like what someone has to say. That is life. But the tone many people have taken and the overall sense of entitlement has just gotten out of hand. But maybe I am in the minority. I enjoy posting here and having some great discussions about shows, but I feel like those discussions have been replaced with people bashing each other and complaining about radio stations and their programming decisions. Which we can all do, but not let it take over our lives into this community.
Time for me to get off my soapbox and hope I am still welcome after this vent, I really do like it here and I have even had some off board internet friendships form over the years with some of you. Things have just bothered me for a while, and as a member of the decade plus club, on here, i spoke up.

I didn't have time to create a post Saturday (6/20/15) after noticing the old player/link was dead.
However, I did update it later that day on my "American Top 40 - The '70's w/Casey Kasem - Station List" forum.
I also made a notation on that day (6/20/15), that KHLA FM - Jennings/Lake Charles LA - delayed the playing of the
countdown from 10 AM until 2 PM.
I try to update info on a weekly basis to keep all station listings as current as possible. I even change the start/end times for
stations as they occur, when they are affected each Spring and Fall due to the seasonal transitioning between Standard Time
and Daylight Saving Time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E.T.A. Right now I'm going to remove the listing for KLOU - St. Louis MO - on the Sunday 10 AM timeslot. This was something
I should have done about 1 month ago as "Michael" and "kchwong" so correctly posted the info that KLOU had dropped
the show (May 18th) and instead began playing a Tom Kent program. I only left the listing alone for this long, as I'd
heard they might try to find another timeslot for AT 40 -- but this has not materialized and sadly it's time for them to go!

Yes, I read that your update was most likely going to be temporary, so I wasn't ragging on you. I was just shocked that no one started a new thread when updates have been pouring in and acknowledged by individuals who seem like prime candidates to take over this great responsibility. Baffling. I read your follow-up post and I haven't had a chance to catch up on the other threads yet, but if what you say is correct, that is disappointing. But not surprising. When I was here a few years ago the sense of community wasn't always there either. I was probably as guilty as anyone because when I lobbied for unedited AT40 shows back then I was frustrated when some AT40 fans disagreed. I thought if there was one thing AT40 fans should be able to agree on was hearing unedited programs. All ended well because the 4 hour programs in late 1978/all of 1979 were finally offered to stations and that subject was closed. Just remember that family members argue, complain, and bicker all of the time. But in the end, they are family. So whatever anyone says, we are still an AT40 family.

Just remember that family members argue, complain, and bicker all of the time. But in the end, they are family. So whatever anyone says, we are still an AT40 family. Yup. And of course for many (most?) of us, the families we have and love at home probably think our interest in radio programs 30-40+ years old is a wee bit... off. Certainly my wife has gotten tired of me wanting her to hear this great song I heard at #38 that I haven't heard in years, and can't understand why I want to stay in the car until Casey finishes telling a bit of trivia that hasn't been accurate since the Carter administration. But we love them all in spite of their oft-disinterest in all things Kasem, and we all should appreciate the community here, bumps aside. Sorry if I took a bit of umbrage along the way, and I am really sorry I couldn't keep updating. Let's keep our feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

Oh boy, can I ever relate to the disinterested spouse syndrome! Plus, I love listening to the songs rarely heard and that is not well-received in the household. That's the way it goes as my musical interests focus primarily on #40 - #31 while the family focuses on #10 - #1. Perhaps if I can get through a big project at work in the next month or two I can post an updated list. Even if someone just took the time as you did last November to get it up to date then we could possibly get by for another 6 months or so when someone else could volunteer.

Monday 3 am - 6 a.m. (As of 11/15/14 - see below) Botany Radio 107.1 - Auckland NEW ZEALAND 107.1 FM www.radio.org.nz/botany-auckland/Botany Radio in New Zealand switched at40 some time ago to Sunday 9am to 12 noon Local NZ time. This is Saturday 5PM - 8 PM EST Botany flaked on playing AT 40 today, 6/13/15. I heard it here for a couple of weeks, but not today.
They no longer list it on the station website schedule page either. Have you heard anything regarding
a programming change with this station. They were fun to listen to, as they didn't follow the regularly scheduled
episodes offered on any given week by Premiere. Last week they played a DECEMBER 1976 episode even
though Premiere distributed a choice of playing JUNE 1971 and/or JUNE 1976 shows!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**UPDATE**
Botany Radio 107.1 - Auckland New Zealand - came through and played the countdown today 6/27/15. The episode featured
was from February 5th 1977. This is a cool station to catch a random show from -- as you never know what to expect!
They feature standard optional extras plus a few extra, extras of their own. This is a very unique listening experience!
Try it out each Saturday from 5 PM-9 PM EDT. This translates to Sunday from 9 AM-12 Noon LOCAL New Zealand time.
Excellent discovery Terry1975!

Hey guys - I have been on here maybe once or twice the past few months - check in from time to time to see what's going on in here. I was the one who started the list several years ago for both the 70s and 80s stations, but it grew into a time consuming job for me towards the end, and I had to unfortunately give it up. I glanced over the pages and noticed that there are several comments about the 'edit' feature not working - is that true? "If" you can still edit, then the list should not be a problem to update - but if you can't edit, then I understand the frustrations of keeping an up-to-the-minute list.

Can you believe it's been 5 years since you and I came up with the station thread idea? Your dedication to keeping it thriving for 3 years is by far the longest span anyone has ever devoted to keeping the list up to date. I hate to see our dream end up like this and I hope I can serve my time soon by getting this up to date again. The 80's thread seems to be updated continuously, so I don't believe there is an edit issue. But I haven't been back long enough to test it out.

I remember all the excitement when the 70s and 80s list first started.
I sure would hate to see this list, and all the hard work that everyone has put into it, go to waste.
There has to be someone out there who wouldn't mind taking over the chore - and trust me, it's a bit overwhelming at times - just takes someone who is dedicated to keeping it up-to-date.
Any takers out there?
