The Y2K special seemed to be the thrill ride WODC listeners were looking for as a holiday treat. Good emails and FB posts. I think Rapper's Delight may have been the biggest surprise. I thought it would be U Can't Touch This...but that was a much bigger hit commercially and so was M.C. Hammer. I think M.C. and Sugarhill are right in the demo WODC is seeking. Not necessarily the genre, but the demo that grew up with those songs on their radios. For the old-old school the James Brown was great, but not much different-sounding than his 1970-74 string of AT40 hits. The content was compelling and Casey did a great job building us up for it, then boom! It was on and all is good! With the Ken Martin #1 Hits, Y2K, 8/29/70 and the extra (Top 50 Hits of 1982) it was a great Casey Kasem showcase! C.K. was more awesome than I had imagined.
