Do you find that you have a special fondness for the songs that were popular and that your mother was hearing on the radio while you were in the womb? I do.

Dunno; if that was the case then I would have been feeling it listening to Premiere's 70s countdown last week (8/16/75 was a month before my birth.) I thought that show was enjoyable, but not really special or exceptional.

I have no special fondness for the hits from July 1957 through March 1958. "Jailhouse Rock" and "At the Hop" are certainly iconic songs from that time (and the two biggest hits), but no special connection for me. I know my Mom liked "April Love" by Pat Boone (#1 in Dec. '57), because I remember the 45. I never cared for it, though.

I'd probably be a bigger Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton John fan if this were true for me.

The period from mid-summer 1960 to April 1961 did have a few good songs (such as "Corinna Corinna", "One Mint Julep," "Exodus Theme," "The Twist," "Blue Moon," and "Because They're Young," but most of the songs were a bit too maudlin for my taste (the limbo period between early rock & roll and the British Invasion). Connie Francis epitomized this sappy period for me, as did Johnny Tillotson.

To me, it's more what mom and dad played in the house when I grew up. My dad was a big band fan, and liked Bobby Darin (50s version), Sinatra (of course), Louis Prima and Lou Rawls so those artists are special to me. Mom enjoyed listening to what dad played. She once mentioned that she liked Bob Seger's "Against The Wind", so it's a favorite of mine as well.

Not from when I was in the womb, but for some reason I have a fondness for songs and other things pop culture related from 1979, when I was around 2 years old. I don't understand why, since I don't remember anything specific about that year from when I was a child.

Maybe that's why I love songs from the 60s so much.....Hmmm interesting theory this one

Hmm -- for me, we're talking about mid-April 1965 through mid-January 1966... Doing a quick run-through of the songs from the time period, I find two of my favorite Beatles songs ("Help!" and "We Can Work It Out", which was #1 the week I was born) and one of my favorite Beach Boys songs ("Help Me Rhonda") -- I'm also quite fond of "King Of The Road" by Roger Miller (which had just exited the Top Ten in mid-April 1965), and there are a fair share of other songs in that time frame which please my ears whenever I come across them being played, but I don't fancy that there are significantly more of my favorite songs from my "womb time" than there are in any other randomly-selected nine-month period from, say, ten years earlier to fifteen years later... (When I actually started paying attention to current pop music beginning in the 1980s, of course, the number of favorites rose dramatically... )

For me, no. When I was in "the womb", my mother was listening to "elevator music" and I can't stand that stuff (although it does help me to sleep).

I have a liking for top 40 songs that were popular on AM radio, which my parents listened to, during my early childhood. Go figure.
