She enjoyed multiple successes in music, several times as an artist (first as a blues singer, later with Mickey 'Guitar' Baker, and in the 70s with "Pillow Talk"), and her biggest as an executive (Sugar Hill Records, pioneers of rap music); now her son Joey teams with producer Paula Wagner on a film project that will include plenty of the music still owned by her family since her passing in 2011... That's gonna be a curiosity to see how she might be portrayed. As much as I respect her role in popular culture, many sources I've read describe her as a somewhat shady businesswoman. It also didn't help that Sugar Hill was distributed by Roulette Records, which makes her story connected to Morris Levy.
