Why is the Y2K special "the worst"? I don't know if there is a Casey show that I would call "bad" but this one does have the most questionable practices in it. I remember lots of intro bed looping, lack of jingles, and they didn't play 40 songs despite the tagline being "The 40 Days That Changed Music".

The songs aren't in the right keys and it sounds sped up.

The actual show as originally aired was at the correct speed, blame whoever posted that youtube video for speeding/pitching up the recording. As I recall, though, they did play at least two songs that weren't the "hit" recordings ("Rock Around The Clock" and "Maybellene", which just happened to be the first two songs played).

So the person did speed/pitch the recording up.

It may not have been deliberate, in the transfer process there was probably a glitch.

Well, I have the original broadcast CDs including the original envelope and cue and affidavit sheets for the show, and definitely, the show has normal speed. In my opinion, there were no intro and outro jingles because Casey was syndicating three different show formats, CHR/Pop, Hot AC and AC and they could offer this millennium special to all the stations carrying different shows with different jingles. Even though there is an AT40 logo on the envelope and the ending music bed is from AT40.
Nonetheless, it wasn't the first time that either just intro or none jingles were used. For example, there were no outro jingles on Casey's Top40 Movie Hits of the 80's.
Finally, I guess that because it wouldn't fit much to programming if you tried to compile something like Top 40 Hits of the Millennium, and it might be questionable what kind of charts would you use since 1900, it was much more fitting to countdown the musical milestones of the Rock Era, i.e. 1955 onwards. And contrary to Billboard, Radio & Records even didn't exist back in 1955 and it was the free-of-charge source for Casey's countdowns at the time.

I'm listening to this show right now and something is wrong. The show is normal speed, but it seems like the songs are not played in their entirety.

I thought the show was pretty entertaining. Apparently Premiere replaced the versions of "Rock Around The Clock" and "Maybellene" for the recent rebroadcast.
