We are on the back deck listening to WODC with people aged 4 to 78. Even the 20-somethings know and love these songs. I cooked out today in perfect 82-degree weather. It's now down to 71 degrees and "It's Too Late" is playing. Airing this show on the Sunday night before a Monday holiday is just perfect. It's working---at least at my house! Four generations are listening to---as my 4-year-old grandson says---"Casey Kasen." This special is so well put together. I am proud for Ken Martin.

Both shows feature Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." While both shows were remastered with the stereo album mix, Premiere kept the start and finish of the mono single mix in the 1971 show. I much prefer they keep the single version on the show because the percussion is much louder and more funkier. Love the avatar blackbowl68!

Love the avatar blackbowl68! Thank you much. I considered the 45 of my all-time favorite single "Pop Muzik." But I realize the Sire label is not that impressive to look at. This one is another great single...and a great label design. A great Stagecoach production from Detroit! Not bad for a hip hop fan from Long Island!

And thanks to you and your station for picking it up. Not many are. I'm able to record it to save to listen for myself.

I can't get enough of this show, it really sounds great with a proper presentation. This show has a very high playback factor.

Really enjoying the show while making everyone a nice Memorial Day breakfast.
Loved hearing "Brown Sugar," The #1 song when I was born.
On the down side- while I appreciate Sammy Davis Jr., "Candy Man" may be my least favorite song in the history of recorded music.

IMO - WODC had the best streaming show, overall.

Thank you the kind words, hifi. I listened to the whole show as if I didn't work at the station. I made sure not to listen to it ahead of time so that I could be amazed along with the audience. Ken's mere concept sold me on running it.
In today's streaming world maybe the number of individual stations carrying the specials isn't that important. Not sure. But a lot of stations missed the boat on giving a great treat to their audience. This is more about Casey than the music itself. The music from the show can be heard and purchased in a lot of places. It's the presentation of a great show by a great host that matters. Shadoe, Ryan and the guest hosts all have merit, but this particular listening experience is about Casey and the way he presents the music. Our audiences don't sweat a lot of the stuff we do here because they don't know as much about the show as we do. They have no idea when we skip an extra. As long as they hear #40 to #1 they're good.
If Part 2 is indeed offered the July 4 weekend it's a go.I'm sure we will have at least one more 4-hour show before that though. A 1979 is bound to hit in June.
Again kudos to Ken for all the great work on this!

WWOW had a good sounding show (aside from the loud station announcements that cut Casey off just before the commercials) and they played all the extras. The only reason I caught the show on WWOW was by luck. I do not think WWOW advertise the show very effectively. I happened to still have WWOW programmed to record the station from Saturday, so when I opened the program it automatically started recording whatever was on WWOW. When I checked what was being recorded it was on Thank You by Sly & The Family Stone. I don't think they posted that they were going to play the show on Monday at 6am.
