And in doing so, you'll have the best of times. I wonder if the estate of Charles Dickens could sue Styx for using the opening lines from A Tale Of Two Cities. Does the public domain law apply in some way to literature?

This is a fun little thread. Don't let it end. And in doing so, you'll have the best of times. And now a message for anyone who thinks this threadjack is going to go away quietly - you're just fooling yourself.

Another eerie thing about the Styx album "Paradise Theater" from which the aforementioned "The Best Of Times" came from, if you look at the back side of the album, the marquee on the Paradise Theater reads "Temporarily Closed" with a few falling letters on the sign.

In the last chorus of "Bette Davis Eyes," instead of "she's precocious," Kim Carnes sings "she's precoshush."

"It Never Rains In Southern California" is about a man who moves to Hollywood to make it big but doesn't succeed and goes back home. I never understood why the chorus goes, "But girl don't they warn ya." Since this isn't a romantic song and there's no female mentioned in the song, he's obviously talking about himself. It would have made much better sense to sing, "But boy don't they warn ya."
And speaking of gender, I've always had a problem with "Human" by The Human League when Joanne and Suzanne are singing, "I am just a man." How about "You are just a man"?

So I guess Joan Baez singing "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" ("Virgil Kane is my name...") must really bother you! I just assume that the singer is assuming a persona different from his/her own. ...and I apologize if I've 'offended' anyone by bringing up such an 'un-PC' song.

That's interesting about the back cover of "Paradise Theatre" displaying a "Temporarily Closed" sign-I wonder if Styx saw that as a harbinger of things to come 40 years later.

I figured better Uncle In than Cousin It.

NORTHERN LIGHTS "Tears Are Not Enough"
After the bridge, and the next chorus, before the chorus repeats, Bryan Adams sings "No! Yeah!"
Well, which is it, Bryan, yes or no?
He did this on a couple of his solo 1980s songs, but, for the life of me, I can't remember which particular tunes. These are songs I heard on pop and rock radio at the time, USA and Canada stations. I always thought, he doesn't know if he is coming or going.
And, yes, I'm being derelict in not doing the proper research to figure out which songs. I am not strong enough to endure any BA at this point in time. XD

I didn't see this song on here. If it is, I apologize in advance!
For years I always wondered at the beginning of "Escape" why Rupert was singing, "OHHHHHHH" faintly. I finally got the answer watching the "Professor of Rock" interview him.
Holmes had to record the single rather quickly and recorded it over an already recorded piece of music/song. I cannot remember if it was time constraints or money, but they never did fix it.
