strange mixes of songs presented by AT40

This topic is probably existing somewhere however I would like to start the discussion again.

I'm AT40 fan from Poland. I started to listen this show in 1992 when I was fourteen. I found AT40 used odd versions of songs . I decided to get all these versions. I must admit I have almost done it ... but ... there is still one left on my list.

1992 -> Linear - T.L.C.

Unfortunately I don't know names of these remixes. Is there somebody who knows them or better has these versions as mp3?

I believe the Giant Steps mix is called '7" edit - new bass'. Only available on the promo single (the commercial single has the album mix). I'm looking for the remix just like you, as it's the only version I ever heard on the radio.

I have a question. Did the the Todd Terry Club Mix version of Missing air on AT40 or CT40?

It probably was played on CT40 (there was no AT40 when it was a hit in 1995-96) for most if not all the 30 weeks it was on, as it's the "hit" version radio was playing. Any week they played the original, slower version was likely the exception, not the rule.

The slower version was played a few times as an LDD, as far as I can recall.

Probably I found the answer for one of my questions. Lisa Stansfield and "This Is The Right Time" remix presented by Shadoe was called "The Rhythm Edit" (4:30). I've just bought the CD single hoping that's this one. I will let you as soon as the parcel arrives.

BTW - I've received a brand new compact disc with Bad English "Price Of Love" from 1990. The radio version was called "Remix Edit" (4:30) and only delivered to radio stations. Commercial single was with a different intro. The radio version is a "pearl" for collectors.

My favorite remix of all time is the radio remix of Mariah Carey's "Someday". Apparently it was only released to radio stations and not commercially. I don't recall AT40 playing it, I heard it for the first time on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40.

Probably should create a new thread but on an AT20 show from 2003, Casey just played a clip of the Neighborhood's "Big Yellow Taxi" before playing the Counting Crows then-current version. He said 'here it is, scratches and all'. Not sure if that was really a rhetorical statement alluding to the oldness and obscurity of the song or if he really meant that. It would depend in part on whether the AT40 shows from 1970 where that song could have been pulled from, were being remastered by that time. In which case, there would be no scratches to mention.

Maybe no clearer version was then available. Last year, on the current AT40, Ryan played a clip of the same song and it sounded clear. (This was done as a new group called the Neighbourhood hit the chart, with "Sweater Weather.")

That version was OK but I preferred the one that Casey and Rick played, which I believe was the album version.

Ce Ce thingyton...it never gets old!

I was never crazy about the mix they played of New Order's "True Faith" during its run. Also, Jody Watley's "Don't You Want Me?" - there was a slower version that was much less appealing than the more upbeat dance mix that seemed to be played more often at the time. Seems like AT40 alternated between the two versions.

Also--and sorry to go here--but Milli Vanilli's "Don't Forget My Number"...the 12" version that got more radio (and AT40) airplay was significantly better than the album version of the song.
