Hey I think I just heard a question posted by one of the regulars here....Brett. Casey said his full name and I won't divulge it in case Brett would rather it not be but his name matches Brett's initials after his name. Asked what was the last song to hit #1 on the pop and country charts. Answer was "Lady" by Kenny Rogers. This is based on R&R. If it was based on Billboard, it would be a different answer. This is the AT10 from 2/9/08. Yes, that was me! A thrilling moment when it occurred. I have that segment on my iTunes and frequently pull it up and take a listen I know I would've been thriled also for Casey to answer my question, awesome for you. BTW, does anyone know the answer for the Billboard Charts?

I think you're right about "Islands In the Stream", which hit #2 in R&R. Incidentally, a year after Casey answered that question with "Lady", on AT40 Ryan Seacrest cited the same statistic when introing the first song (according to R&R/Mediabase) to hit #1 pop and country since "Lady", that being "Love Story" by Taylor Swift (who is still a pop chart-topper, but for the time being no longer a country singer.) PS-As I type this I'm listening to the AT40 from 2/3/73, played by SXM last weekend.

Did Amazed By Lonestar not go to the top of the Country charts? It hit #1 pop Billboard wise... "Amazed" topped both the pop and country charts in Billboard, but only got to #6 on AT40.

Just finished with 2/12/77, a show that featured 12 number-one songs within the survey. I don't know if that's a record, but it's gotta be close.
On to 2/22/86, with a mere seven chart-toppers amongst the ranks of the Top 40.

"When the going gets tough, call the National Geographic" - Casey, at the end of a story regarding the controversy over the longest river in the world (Amazon vs. Nile) before the introduction of Billy Ocean's hit "When the Going Get's Tough, the Tough Get Going".
Fantastic! I laughed hard at that. I'm glad nobody works around me.

^Heard that 1977 show yesterday. The record for #1 songs in a show is 13, in 1975 and later in 1977. A ton of songs I yearned for the long versions of in it. In fact, when Casey said that was title track from Al Stewart's gold album and here is another title track from a gold album, "Night Moves" by Bob Seger, I said, "I wish you would play the versions that were actually ON those albums!".
