9/8/84.
Listened to everything up to #2 on 74 earlier this morning. That was enough.

8/16/86 on the way into work this morning--at #17 was "Suzanne" by Journey, but what was interesting was the intro by Casey in which he mentions Randy Jackson as Journey's new base player. Little did anyone know at the time that starting 15 years later Randy would become one of the most well known personalities on TV along with Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell...

In the Top 20 of the 9/9/2000 show.
Now it's 9/19/70, the chart week of my birth.

It's 9/13/86 right now.
Currently playing is "Money's Too Tight (to Mention)" by Simply Red. A song like that really couldn't make it today. (I'm a little stunned it made it on to radio back then.) They'd be called commies or socialists or something like that. However, we're being destroyed by people who are nothing but corporatists, or fascists, whichever you prefer.
There's a class war going on, and it's being waged and won by the side that started it.

After Ron & Ian and more on the awesome Bucs and Rays, I'll be celebrating the 24th anniversary of my favorite song hitting #1 by listening to AT40 9/8/90.

2 days ago I heard the AT40 from 9/10/94 and the flashback was from this week in 1988. Today I heard the AT40 from 9/12/92 and the flashback was from this week in 1988. That's right...the exact same 5 songs. About 30 years to choose from and you guys could not find a different year to flashback to?

Listening to parts of the Rick Dees show from 9/13/86. Interesting to note the differences between R&R and Billboard. "Throwing it All Away" by Genesis hit number one in the former, but peaked at number four in the latter. So airplay for that song was much stronger than were its sales. That sounds right to me, as I remember it.

I have to respectfully disagree with you--"Money$ Too Tight" would have been more controversial back then than it would be today (in fact I wonder if that's why the song didn't climb any higher than the 30s in 1986). Biggest difference is that people seemed to be paying more attention to things like that back then than they are now...

Casey made a mistake when in the 9/15/73 show, he said "Midnight Train to Georgia" was the third straight hit record written by Jim Weatherly for Gladys and co. He is referring to "Neither One of Us" and "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" as the first 2 but overlooked "Daddy Could Sweat I Declare", which is the followup to NOOU. Jim did not write that one.

When it's over same for 84 though probably won't finish today. 74 audio quality sucked so I went to #1 since it wasn't that pos that had been on top for 3 weeks. Now on 84 and CVD is hosting. Figured he had to be coming up soon but usually it's marked on my file somehow and this time it wasn't. Pleasant surprise.
