Forget the date of the show, but it was a 1979 show I just listened to, in it Casey tells the story of Roger Voudouris and his song “Get Used To It”. Roger comes off as sounded very arrogant saying that his good looks and talent will take him very far in the business. Casey basically says Good Luck with that. Of course his looks and talent didn’t take him very far. I was curious whatever happened to him. Was shocked to see his died at 48. In a sick kind of way I found that kind of ironic. His looks and talent didn’t take him far at all. Then I saw a video of him doing the song in 1979........wow!

Kool 98 6/17/78. The one thing I like about this station is that they play extras by Canadian bands I rarely hear in North Carolina. They just played s song by Prism

The 5/12 show is in the iHeart classic AT40 rotation, and Casey is brief with his intro in that show. But 5/19 is a bit more in depth. I just heard that show last month, as I'm listening to all the 1979 shows in order this year.

Listening to AT40 from 6-28-75 on KLNC, a station that I live 45 minutes from, yet have to listen online because I'm not quite in west Omaha territory. "No One Is To Blame" KLNC is not quite the 100,000 watt flamethrower that KGOR is.

1/19/1974...
That theater the Stylistics sang about in "Rockin' Roll Baby" sadly was demolished in 2008...
Did they use the album version of the Carpenters' "Top Of The World"?

My show of choice today is the extension of the 7/3/1976 show, the #1 songs on July 4th from 1977-2016.
Happy 4th, everyone - please be safe, wherever you go and whatever you do.

CT40 July 3, 1993. I heard songs I've completely forgotten about, like "Don't Take Away My Heaven" by Aaron Neville (falling from its peak of #29 this week) and "Walking in My Shoes" by Depeche Mode (reaching its #34 peak this week).

AT40 from July 11, 1998, with David Perry guest hosting.
Notably, two music legends - Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder (via a collaboration with 98 Degrees) - make their final top 40 debuts this week. The only other artist on the chart who had been around since at least the 70's? Aerosmith, rising towards the top 10 with their future #1 "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing".
It was also the week that Natalie Imbruglia's long-running #1 "Torn" was finally displaced - and Alanis Morissette continued her #1 streak with "Uninvited".
Matchbox 20 and 'N Sync each had two songs on the chart - "3 AM" was in its final week on the chart and "Tearin' Up My Heart" was debuting.

6/12/1982 ... man was this a great show. Other than a few duds, there is such a great mix of classic hits and lost gems. Also a couple good original extras. Also a great set of Premiere extras.
And the mysterious Top 40 Albums special that Casey promoed during the 3rd hour, but never ended up getting aired. The assumption here is that it was supposed to be that year's July 4th special, but never got finished, meaning that 1982 would become the first year since 1971 (and only the second overall at the time) to not have a special played over the 4th of July weekend.
