AT20 HAC 11-20-99. Casey (his writers) makes a mistake and says that Seal's "Prayer for the Dying" was a big hit 8 years ago this week. The song was actually from 1994.

Casey's Top 40 from December 14, 1991.
Casey made an error when saying "Shot Of Poison" was from Lita Ford's third album (assuming he meant "Lita", "Stiletto" and "Dangerous Curves"). It was actually from her fifth album - she had two before "Lita".

Yesterday I wrapped the weekly shows for 1978, 1988, 1998, and 2008. I await 12/27-12/30 to finish those years with their respective year end shows in their traditional day slot.
Currently listening to American Country Countdown Top 100 of 1998. Afterwards, Opus 78.

A year end Top 100 countdown produced as a stand alone product for radio stations to air. Larry McKay hosted some, and so did Charlie Van Dyke. CVD is hosting the one I am listening to now.
Truth is, the show kind of sucks. I can tell this is the year I lost interest in a lot of music and will continue through some point in 81/82 I am sure. There were songs I like from 78 a lot, but they are by and large in the top 30 or 40 I guess. Whereas I loved the music of the previous 70s years enough to be entertained for the whole show.
Also the format sucks too. It’s the same thing over and over. Nearly every song he interviews the artist for all of 30 seconds before playing the record. Last years (77) was the first one I ever heard and I remember liking it much better than this. I don’t remember if the format was the same as this or maybe it was because it was the first one I had ever heard or I just liked the music of 77 far more so this is a slog to get through.
I also loved him saying “over 8 hours” for the time of the show. So there was presumably no clock for stations and they could take as long as they wanted. With no commercials it clocks in right at around 7 hours in length.

Listening to 11/19/88 with Shadoe Stevens. So far, pretty pleasantly surprised at how much I'm liking this show. I always think of late 1988 as being crappy, but maybe that's unfair of me. Don't get me wrong--it's not the summer of 1984, but an enjoyable show so far.
Listened to Casey's Top 40 from 12/7/91 before that--that show was the opposite. Not as good as I thought it would be. Far too many slow songs and obscure stuff I don't remember.
