Offering a lost hot single from 8/02/1969. It's a piece of New Orleans heavy funk from a piano thumper in the tradition of the Meters released on a small label. This track was slowly moving up the Billboard Hot 100 where it got to #73. Hook and Sling - Eddie BoIts hard driving groove makes it a favorite for hip hop DJs and producers for sampling. Even the pre-music intro was sampled for Justin Timberlake's #1 smash "Sexyback." Give the drummer some!!!

- He was the first to chart with a Jagger/Richards song in the US. "That Girl Belongs To Yesterday" reached the Hot 100 in January 1964, eventually peaking at #49. - He made the top 10 four times, his highest charting single "It Hurts To Be In Love" reaching #2. It was kept from #1 by the Crystals' "He's A Rebel", a song that he wrote. - He also wrote "Hello, Mary Lou", the "B" side to Ricky Nelson's #1 hit "Travelin Man". It also made the Top 10, peaking at #9. On August 7, 1961, he debuted with his second single at #95. Another Carole King/Gerry Goffin masterpiece, this R&R HOFer would just miss the top 40 with this lost 60s classic. It would chart 8 weeks in the Hot 100, peaking at #42. This song was a great match for his trademark "flair for the dramatic" vocal style. Every Breath I Take - Gene Pitney

This socially conscious song is a lost 60s classic from August 24, 1968. It would remain on the charts for 8 weeks and peak at #43. I discovered this song through a good college friend several years later, after mentioning how much I liked their hit "Lazy Day". She mentioned this one and their top 40 hit "Sunday Mornin'"received a lot of airplay in the Pacfic Northwest region which was her home. Like everyone here, it's always great to share good music amongst friends. Give A D a m n - Spanky and Our Gang

In late August 1969, Joe South debuted on the Hot 100 with "Don't It Make You Want To Go Home" ... ... it's hard to believe the song missed the Top 40, climbing as high as #41. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bsR1k453SA
