Digging deep for this 60s lost classic two-fer from July 20, 1963. Both songs debuted back-to-back on the "Bubbling Under" charts by women who would become huge contributors to the Motown sound. At #123, this song was co-written and produced by James Brown on a King distributed label called Try Me. It would eventually make the Hot 100 for a week peaking at #99. She would make her mark duetting with Marvin Gaye in the latter half of the 60s. I Cried - Tammy Montgomery (aka Tammi Terrell)At #124, Smokey Robinson was the next one attempting to have a national hit with this girl group. It would reach the Hot 100 the following week and become their fourth and highest charting single to date. Still, it would only peak at #75 during a 7 week chart run. They would reach the top forty with their next single, and bomb with the follow-up. Then they recorded a song rejected by the Marvelettes...and the rest is history. By the way the original title was: A Breath Taking, First Sight Soul Shaking, One Night Love Making, Next Day Heart Breaking Guy. It was later shortened to: A Breath Taking Guy - Supremes

Eddie Rabbitt loved a rainy night The O'Jays loved music Joan Jett and the Blackhearts loved rock & roll People (original by The Zombies) and Climax Blues Band among many others loved you Alicia Bridges loved the nightlife... ...and on July 23, 1966 this lost 60s classic was at its peak #63 position after 7 weeks on the chart. Its pungent odor would linger on the charts one additional week. She told the tale of a different kind of love, one I'm proud to say I too am the victim of. It is the love of a tuberous vegetable, a member of the genus stinkus delicioso. How, vewy, vewy, cwood! I Love Onions - Susan Christie
