I realize that it's subjective, as everyone has different tastes, but my favorite decade was the '80s. However, there were ups and downs during that decade. Here's my opinion on the music of the '80s:
1980 - great all the way through 1981 - the spring was kind of weak, but by late summer it had picked up 1982 - first half very weak, but by fall it was really good 1983 - great all the way through - my favorite year for music 1984 - great all the way through 1985 - spring and summer were kind of uninteresting, but by fall it had picked up 1986 - good all the way through 1987 - first half very strong, second half uninteresting, with the exception of Nov & Dec which were quite good 1988 - first half kind of weak, by summer it was a lot better 1989 - good to great all the way through
My favorite years outside of the '80s would be 1978, 1990 and 1977 in that order. 1979 and 1991 were also pretty good.

I'm surprised no one mentioned last week's 1981 show. After a high energy countdown & Turbo Casey from 1979 the week before, all the A/C, Urban Cowboy country and smooth jazz was an abrupt change just 24 months later.

If I had made the effort to listen to the '81 show I'm sure I would have included it here. The July 3, 1982 show was the worst show I've heard in a while. Some good songs in the top half of the 40, but the bottom 20 were almost all meh. The country presence in the countdown, though not that big, certainly didn't help. It's also a countdown which features many unmemorable songs by acts I really like, in this case Journey, Blondie, Huey Lewis, Heart, and Rick Springfield.

The 1987 show wasn't great. But it did have a nice first hour with the eltimate rarity by Jennifer Rush, rarely heard Mac, you can call him Al again Jarreau and Soul City. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Not many great songs, but many enjoyable ones and very few clunkers. The stretch of songs from 21 to 11 is the highlight of the countdown. It's kinda a dull period, imo, but it would pick up in September / October. .

What a come down from last weekend. 1987 and 1971 are my least favorite years. And then we get a 1978 show where the songs were butchered.

Yet another thread with a deleted creator. Strange... Another by @paul, a lot of his most recent replies have been deleted as well, especially in the "What show are you listening to right now?" thread!

This week's 1987 show is La Isla Stinko. Sure there are a few Diamonds, but they unfortunately are pretty much lost hits today. Soul City and Right on Track are two of LVKs all time favorites! Restless Heart and Eddie Money are more than respectable. and Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for Smokey and Fleetwood Mac! But the rest should neither live long nor prosper.

This week's crummy 1988 show is saved by a Fab first hour w/Commentary Casey and Rick Springfield, Bangles not having a Manic Monday and Swing Out Sister?!
