The monster cereals are still around, but usually only at Halloween now. Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry. The fruity one with the wolf man was discontinued years ago.

tarobe is correct. MUNSTERS and ADDAMS FAMILY were is reruns in all major markets all across America, there was a boom of nostalgia over classic monsters with lots of plastic model kits being popular and being sold all over department stores, as well as make up kits, I was only 7, but remember monsters everywhere, on TV and in stores, i think even on commercials and cerials, foods, candy, etc. The timing was just right, and you didnt have to wait till Halloween to know and "see" monsters whereever your parents took you when they went shopping. Probably about the time that General Mills introduced Count Chocula and Frankenberry. Are they still around? I was a Quake and Quisp kid myself... Count Chocula definitely does exist. Frankenberry may not, as I don't see it advertised anymore, though Count Chocula does. Then again, I could be referring to Canadian supermarkets. There used to be Boo-Berry in the U.S. way back when, but that product was short-lived. But Count Chocula definitely is confirmed to exist.

The monster cereals had been out a couple years when "Monster Mash" came back in 1973, but I imagine their respective popularities were related. The cereals are still around, but much different than they were in the 70s. the cereal used to be 100% oats (like Cheerios) but not now they are made of corn and oats and are crunchier. Also the marshmallows used to be like those in cocoa (small pellets) now they are bigger and shaped like bats and ghosts. Count Chocula is more popular than Frankenberry and Boo-Berry, but I believe they are all still available. Frute Brute, which was introduced around 1974-75, never took off and is long gone as is the attempt to resurrect it, Yummy Mummy.

Interestingly Quenton Terentino has an empty Frute Brute box that he uses as a prop in his films. In Pulp Fiction John Travolta's dope dealer is shown eating a bowl of Frute Brute. A true anachronism, as the stuff ceased to exist long before the 1990s.

Granted, my prime cereal years were in the 60s, but you'd think I'd recall seeing it on the shelves--especially since I started working at a supermarket after school at 16 in 1974! About as obscure as another 70's cereal I liked: Freakies!

In fact of those 3, Boo Berry was the easiest to find when I was kid in the 80s and was wanting all that. The short lived one here was Fruity Wolf cereal whatever that was called.

Boo Berry was still on the shelves, non Halloween time, in 2000. The big three come out at Halloween at least in North Carolina to this day. As for Fruit Brute, they tried again with something called Yummy Mummy or something to replace the Brute. Another Monster Mashed with that one as well. That one was in the late 80's/early 90's and didn't last long.
